The 2021–22 Japan Figure Skating Championships were held in Saitama (city), Saitama, Saitama Prefecture, Saitama on December 22–26, 2021. It was the 90th edition of the event. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, and ice dance. The results were part of the Japanese selection criteria for the 2021 World Championships. Qualifying Competitors either qualified at regional and sectional competitions, held from September to November 2020, or earned a bye. 2022 World Figure Skating Championships
The 2022 World Figure Skating Championships were held from March 21–27, 2022, at the Sud de France Arena in Montpellier, France. Sanctioned by the International Skating Union (ISU) and hosted this year by Skate Canada, the World Championships are considered the most prestigious event in figure skating, second only to the Olympics. 2022 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships
The 2022 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships were held from January 18–23, 2022, at the Tondiraba Ice Hall in Tallinn, Estonia. Held annually since 1999 (except for 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic), the competition featured skaters from the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. Ice Dance
Ice dance (sometimes referred to as ice dancing) is a discipline of figure skating that historically draws from ballroom dancing. It joined the World Figure Skating Championships in 1952, and became a Winter Olympic Games medal sport in 1976. Pair skating is a figure skating discipline defined by the International Skating Union (ISU) as "the skating of two persons in unison who perform their movements in such harmony with each other as to give the impression of genuine Pair Skating as compared with independent Single Skating".S&P/ID 2021, p. 109 The ISU also states that a pairs team consists of "one Woman and one Man".
