Hapoel Galil Elyon
Hapoel Galil Elyon (), also known as Hapoel Nofar Energy Galil Elion for sponsorship reasons, is an Israeli basketball club. The team competes in the Israeli Basketball Premier League, the top tier of Israeli basketball, and internationally in the Balkan League. The team represents the northern region of the country – the Upper Galilee, and the Golan Heights. In June 2008, the club rights in the Israeli Basketball Premier League transferred to Hapoel Gilboa (which had previously been merged with Hapoel Afula, which regained their independence) to form a new club, Hapoel Gilboa Galil, which represents the Gilboa and Lower Galilee regions. Afula
Afula () is a city in the Northern District of Israel, often known as the "Capital of the Valley" due to its strategic location in the Jezreel Valley. As of , the city had a population of . Afula's ancient tell (settlement mound) suggests habitation from the Late Chalcolithic to the Ayyubid period. It has been proposed that Afula is the location of the village of Arbela mentioned in the 4th-century Onomasticon of Eusebius and the 7th-century Samaritan village of ''Kirjath Ophlatha''. A fortress was built at the site during the Crusader or Mamluk period. A small Arab Palestinian village during the Ottoman period, it was sold in 1872 along with the entire Jezreel Valley to the Lebanese Sursock family. Kiryat Ata () also spelled Qiryat Ata, is a city in the Haifa District of Israel. In it had a population of , 92% of whom were Jewish citizens. History The Early Bronze Age site at Kiryat Ata has been extensively excavated since 1990, revealing stratified remains from the Neolithic, EB (=early Bronze Age), IB and EB II periods. Elitzur Eito Ashkelon () is a professional basketball team based in Ashkelon in south west Israel. The club currently plays in Liga Leumit (basketball), Israeli National League. EuroBasket The team is named after the late Itamar Sharvit (nicknamed "Eito"), who has been Elizur Ashkelon's maintenance manager for 18 years. Hapoel (, ) is an Israeli Jewish sports association established in 1926 by the Histadrut Labor Federation.
