2021–22 Iraqi First Division League
The 2021–22 Iraqi First Division League was the 48th season of what is now called the Iraqi Premier Division League, the second tier of the Iraqi football league system, since its establishment in 1974. The number of clubs in the league have varied throughout history for various reasons; in this season the number of clubs has been reduced from 28 teams to 24. The top two teams are directly promoted to the Iraqi Premier League, while the bottom 4 teams in each group are directly relegated to the Iraqi Second Division League. The season started on 12 October 2021 and ended 19 April 2022, while the summer transfer window began on August 1 and ended on midnight on September 19. Al-Hudood won the title by beating Karbalaa 1–0 in the final at Al-Shaab Stadium, with both teams securing promotion. Iraqi Premier Division League
The Iraqi Premier Division League () is the second-highest division of the Iraqi football league system after the Iraq Stars League. The league is contested by 20 clubs and is operated by the Iraq Football Association (IFA). Each season, the two top-finishing teams in the Premier Division League are automatically promoted to the Stars League, while the third-placed team enters a promotion play-off. The two lowest-finishing teams are relegated to the First Division League. From the 2023–24 season, the competition's name was changed from First Division League to Premier Division League. In the 2023–24 season, Diyala won the title and was promoted alongside runners-up Al-Karma. Al-Minaa are the record holders in the tournament having won three titles. Al-Bahri SC
Al-Bahri Sport Club () is an Iraqi professional football club based in Al-Jubaila, Basra. In 1990, the Iraqi Defense Ministry dissolved the club within its decision to dissolve all Iraqi military clubs, the club was playing in the Iraqi Premier League, then it was reconstituted. History Al-Bahri were founded in 1976, and in only their second season in existence, they reached the semifinals of the 1977–78 Iraq FA Cup, beating the reigning champions at the time ( Al-Zawra'a) on the way, however they withdrew from the semifinal and handed their opponents Al-Tayaran a 3–0 victory. Al-Hussein SC (Baghdad)
Al-Hussein () is an Iraqi professional football club based in Baghdad. They were crowned champions of the 2015–16 Iraqi First Division League which promoted them to the Iraqi Premier League for the first time in their history. History Al-Hussein, named after the Imam of Shia Husayn ibn Ali, were founded in 1999. Al-Difaa Al-Madani
Al-Difaa Al-Madani Sport Club (), was an Iraqi football team based in Al-Shaab, Baghdad, that played in the Iraqi First Division League and Iraq FA Cup. The club was dissolved by the Ministry of Interior in 2023. History Al-Difaa Al-Madani Sport Club was founded in 2005 by Ministry of Interior. The club didn't have a headquarters until 2017, when they rehabilitated one of the war shelters to turn it into a club headquarters, they played in the Iraq FA Cup in 2015–16 season, the team played their first match against Al-Mahmoudiyah FC and beat him, but they were in the 32nd round facing Al-Zawraa, the league champions that season and lost the match. Al-Samawa SC () is an Iraqi sports club based in As-Samawa, Al-Muthanna, that competes in the Iraqi First Division League, the third tier of Iraqi football. The club's home stadium is As Samawah Stadium. History Al-Samawa Sports Club was founded in 1963 by Shamkhi Jabr Athab, the first president of the club was Hatem Rashid Deibes. Babil Sports Club (), or Babylon Sports Club, is an Iraqi football club based in Babil, that plays in Iraqi Second Division League. History Babil Sport Club was founded in 1960. The team has played in the Iraqi Premier League since the start of the tournament in 1974, and They had played for four seasons, and in all of them it had been struggling to stay away from relegation.
