2021–22 Illinois State Redbirds Men's Basketball Team
The 2021–22 Illinois State Redbirds men's basketball team represented Illinois State University during the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Redbirds played their home games at Doug Collins Court at Redbird Arena in Normal, Illinois as members of the Missouri Valley Conference. The team finished the season 13–20, 5–13 in MVC play to finish in eighth place. They defeated Indiana State in the opening round of the MVC tournament before losing to Northern Iowa in the quarterfinals. Twenty-six games into his tenth season as head coach, Dan Muller was notified by the school he would not be retained; however, the school stated he would be allowed to finish out the remainder of the season. Dan Muller (basketball)
Daniel Paul Muller (born February 21, 1976) is an American college basketball coach, formerly the men's basketball head coach at his alma mater Illinois State University. Biography Muller was born in Lafayette, Indiana to parents Cliff and Tricia. He attended Lafayette Central Catholic High School, graduating in 1994. After high school, Muller attended Illinois State University. On the Illinois State Redbirds men's basketball team, Muller played as a forward from 1994 to 1998 under head coach Kevin Stallings. In his sophomore season, the team finished second in the MVC regular season, and fell to Tulsa in the semifinals of the conference tournament. They earned a bid to the National Invitation Tournament (NIT), where they advanced to the quarterfinals before falling to Tulane. 2021 Missouri Valley Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2021 Missouri Valley Conference men's basketball tournament, popularly referred to as "Arch Madness", was a postseason men's basketball tournament that completed the 2020–21 season in the Missouri Valley Conference. The tournament was held at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri from March 4–7, 2021. Despite the conference being the only conference to complete their entire conference schedule in the 2020-21 season, the tournament was marred by a positive COVID test in the Northern Iowa program prior to their quarterfinal matchup against Drake. Despite subsequent negative tests, contact tracing combined with St. Louis health protocols required UNI to forfeit the game advancing Drake to the next round. Mark Freeman (basketball)
Mark Freeman (born October 6, 2000) is an American college basketball player for the James Madison Dukes of the Sun Belt Conference. He previously played for the Morehead State Eagles and Tennessee State Tigers of the Ohio Valley Conference and the Illinois State Redbirds of the Missouri Valley Conference. High school career Freeman attended Southwind High School in Memphis, Tennessee. As a senior, he averaged 22 points and 8 assists per game and led Southwind to a 29–2 record and a spot in the regional semifinals. Freeman was a TSWA All-State honoree and a finalist for the Class AAA Mr. Basketball award. He initially committed to LIU Brooklyn, but opted to reclassify to the Class of 2019. The 2021–22 Utah Runnin' Utes men's basketball team represented the University of Utah during the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team was led by first-year head coach Craig Smith. They played their home games at the Jon M. Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City, Utah as members of the Pac-12 Conference. The Utes finished the season 11–20, 4–16 in Pac-12 play to finish in 11th place. They lost in the first round of the Pac-12 tournament to Washington. The Tennessee State Tigers basketball team represents Tennessee State University (TSU) in Nashville, Tennessee, United States. The school's team currently competes in the NCAA Division I's Ohio Valley Conference. They play their home games at the Gentry Complex and are led by sixth-year head coach Brian "Penny" Collins.
