2021–22 Egyptian Premier League
The 2021–22 Egyptian Premier League, also known as The WE Egyptian Premier League for sponsorship purposes, was the 63rd season of the Egyptian Premier League, the top Egyptian professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1948. The season started on 25 October 2021 and is concluded on 30 August 2022. Fixtures for the 2021–22 season were announced on 12 October 2021. Zamalek are the defending champions, having won their 13th league title in the previous season. Teams Eighteen teams are competing in the league - the top fifteen teams from the previous season, and three teams promoted from the Egyptian Second Division. Venues A total of 12 stadiums in 5 governorates were selected by clubs to host their 2021–22 home fixtures. The Egyptian Premier League (), also known as the Nile League () for sponsorship reasons, after the addition of title sponsor Nile Developments, is a professional association football league in Egypt and the highest level of the Egyptian football league system. The league comprises 18 teams and operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Egyptian Second Division A. Seasons mostly run from August to May. Unlike most other leagues, games are played on all days of the week. The Egyptian Premier League was founded in 1948, unifying the local leagues that existed previously. The 2022–23 Egyptian Premier League was the 64th season of the Egyptian Premier League, the top professional league for association football clubs in the Egyptian football league system, since its establishment in 1948. Fixtures for the 2022–23 season were announced on 9 October 2022. Zamalek were the defending champions. The season started on 18 October 2022, and concluded on 26 July 2023. Al Ahly secured the title on 10 July 2023, winning their 43rd league title. Decisions Due to some clubs' participation in continental competitions, the league's start date was delayed by 48 hours. 2020–21 Egyptian Second Division
The 2020–21 Egyptian Second Division was the 41st edition of the Egyptian Second Division, the top Egyptian semi-professional level for football clubs, since its establishment in 1977. The season started on 25 November 2020 and concluded on 3 July 2021. Fixtures for the 2020–21 season were announced on 11 November 2020, two weeks before the start of the competition. Eastern Company, Coca-Cola and Pharco won Group A, Group B and Group C respectively and secured the promotion to the 2021–22 Egyptian Premier League; all of them earning a place in the top flight for the first time in their history.
