The 2021–22 Cymru North season (also known as the 2021–22 JD Cymru North season for sponsorship reasons) was the second season of the second-tier northern region football in Welsh football pyramid. Cymru North
The Cymru North is a regional association football, football league in Wales, covering the northern half of the country. It initially had clubs with semi-professional status. Together with the Cymru South, it forms the second tier of the Welsh football league system. The first year of its operation was 2019–20 with the Football Association of Wales owning and administering the tier 2 leagues for the first time. These changes followed from a review of the Welsh Football Pyramid. Prior to 2019, the equivalent league was the Cymru Alliance, covering North and Central Wales. 2019–20 Welsh Alliance League
The 2019–20 Welsh Alliance League, known as the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance League for sponsorship reasons, was the 36th, and final season of the Welsh Alliance League, which consisted of two divisions: the third and fourth levels of the Welsh football pyramid. There are sixteen teams in Division 1 and fifteen teams in Division 2, with the champions of Division 1 promoted to the Cymru North and the bottom two relegated to Division 2. In Division 2, the champions and the top two runners-up will be promoted to the newly formed FAW League One. The season commenced on 9 August 2019. Division 1 Teams Llangefni Town were champions in the previous season and were promoted to the newly formed Cymru North. Conwy (, ), previously known in English as Conway, is a walled market town, community and the administrative centre of Conwy County Borough in North Wales. The walled town and castle stand on the west bank of the River Conwy, facing Deganwy on the east bank. The town formerly lay in Gwynedd and prior to that in Caernarfonshire. Porthmadog (), originally Portmadoc until 1972 and known locally as "Port", is a coastal town and community (Wales), community in the Eifionydd area of Gwynedd, Wales, and the historic counties of Wales, historic county of Caernarfonshire. The 2021–22 Cymru Premier () (known as the JD Cymru Premier for sponsorship reasons) was the 30th season of the Cymru Premier (formally known as the Welsh Premier League), the highest football league within Wales since its establishment in 1992. Connah's Quay Nomads were the defending champions. Teams played each other twice on a home and away basis, before the league split into two groups after phase 1 matches were completed. Due to Wales losing a European place, the format of the play-offs changed, with the prize now being a place in the Scottish Challenge Cup. Teams Twelve teams competed in the league – the same twelve teams as the previous season. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Cymru North and Cymru South leagues were unable to be played the previous season, therefore no teams were able to be promoted.
