2021–22 AC Monza Season
The 2021–22 season was AC Monza, Associazione Calcio Monzas 40th season—and second in a row—in the Serie B, the second level of Italian football league system, Italian football. The club ended the Serie B campaign in fourth place, and participated in the promotion play-offs. After defeating Pisa S.C., Pisa after extra time in the final, Monza were promoted to the Serie A for the first time in their history. They also participated in the Coppa Italia, the Italian domestic cup, and were eliminated in the round of 64. Pre-season and friendlies On 15 July 2021, Monza played their first pre-season friendly against Real Vicenza V.S., Real Vicenza in Ronzone; the match ended in a 14–0 win. They then followed with a 5–0 win against Eccellenza side Anaune Val di Non five days later. AC Monza
Associazione Calcio Monza (), or simply Monza, is a professional football club based in Monza, Lombardy, Italy. The team plays in the Serie B, the second tier of Italian football, following relegation in the 2024–25 Serie A season. The club was founded in 1912 as Monza FBC and came close to promotion to the Serie A on multiple occasions in the 1970s. However, they faced financial issues at times during the first two decades of the 21st century, being declared bankrupt twice, in 2004 and 2015. Following Silvio Berlusconi's takeover of the club in 2018, Monza returned to the Serie B in 2020 after a 19-year absence and achieved promotion to the Serie A for the first time in 2022. Marco D'Alessandro (born 17 February 1991) is an Italian professional footballer who plays as a winger for club Catanzaro. Club career Roma and loans D'Alessandro moved his first footsteps into Lazio youth system. In 2005, he joined Roma youth teams. Marco Armellino (born 21 August 1989) is an Italian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for club Avellino. Andrea Colpani (born 11 May 1999) is an Italian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder or right winger for club Monza. Club career Atalanta Colpani is a product of the Atalanta Youth Sector, and started playing for their under-19 squad in the 2016–17 season. The Trofeo Luigi Berlusconi (''Luigi Berlusconi Trophy'') is an annual association football friendly match. It was first organized by Italian club AC Milan, and usually played in August at the San Siro, Milan's home stadium.
