2021 Swedish Open
The 2021 Swedish Open was a tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts as part of the ATP Tour 250 Series of the 2021 ATP Tour and as part of the WTA 125K Series. It took place in Båstad, Sweden, from 12 through 18 July 2021 for the men's tournament, and from 5 through 10 July 2021 for the women's tournament. Clay Court
A clay court is one of the types of tennis court on which the sport of tennis, originally known as "lawn tennis", is played. Clay courts are made of crushed stone, brick, shale, or other unbound mineral aggregate depending on the tournament. The French Open uses clay courts, the only Grand Slam tournament to do so. Clay courts are more common in Continental Europe and Latin America than in North America, Asia-Pacific or Britain. Two main types exist: red clay, the more common variety, and green clay, also known as "rubico", which is a harder surface. Although less expensive to construct than other types of tennis courts, the maintenance costs of clay are high as the surface must be rolled to preserve flatness. Tereza Mihalíková
Tereza Mihalíková (; born 2 June 1998) is a Slovak tennis player. She has a career-high singles ranking of 349 by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), achieved June 2018, and a career-high WTA doubles ranking of 48, attained on 7 November 2022. While still playing mostly at tournaments of the ITF Women's Circuit in singles, she had her breakthrough in doubles, after winning her first WTA Tour title in 2021 and debuting in the top 100 rankings. She has won only one WTA doubles title and three WTA Challenger Tour doubles titles but eight singles and 19 doubles titles on the ITF Circuit. Mihalíková was very successful as a junior. Francisco Cerúndolo (born 13 August 1998) is an Argentine professional tennis player. He has won one ATP singles title. Mikael Ymer (born 9 September 1998) is a Swedish tennis player. He has a career high ATP singles ranking of world No. 67, achieved in March 2020. A wild card (also wildcard or wild-card and also known as an at-large berth or at-large bid) is a tournament or playoff berth awarded to an individual or team that fails to qualify in the normal way; for example, by having a high ranking or winning a qualifying stage.
