2021 Sukma–Bijapur Attack
The 2021 Sukma-Bijapur attack was an ambush carried out by the Naxalite-Maoist militants from the Communist Party of India (Maoist) against Indian security forces on 3 April 2021 at Sukma-Bijapur border near Jonaguda village which falls under Jagargunda police station area in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, the ensuing gunfight lead to the killing of 22 security personnel as well as 20 Naxalites. The death toll was the worst for Indian security forces fighting the Naxalites since 2017. On 2 April 2021, separate joint teams of security forces launched a major anti-Maoist operation from Bijapur and Sukma district in the South Bastar forests. Background On 23 March 2021, five District Reserve Guard (DRG) personnel were killed and 13 others injured when Maoists blew up a bus carrying the security personnel with an Improvised explosive device in Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh. Narayanpur District
Narayanpur district is one of the 33 districts of Chhattisgarh State in Central India. It is one of the two districts created on May 11, 2007. It was carved out from the erstwhile Bastar district. This district occupies an area of 6640 km2 and it had a population of 110,800 in 2001. Narayanpur town is the administrative headquarters of this district. This district comprises 366 villages. It is currently a part of the Red Corridor. As of 2011 it is the least populous district of Chhattisgarh (out of 18). ''The New Indian Express'' is an Indian English-language broadsheet daily newspaper published by the Chennai-based Express Publications. It was founded in 1932 as ''The Indian Express'', under the ownership of Chennai-based P. Varadarajulu Naidu. Santwana Bhattacharya was appointed Editor-in-Chief on 1 July 2022, replacing G.S. Vasu. History ''Indian Express'' was first published on 5 September 1932, in Madras (now Chennai) by an Ayurvedic doctor and Indian National Congress member P Varadarajulu Naidu, publishing from the same press where he ran the ''Tamil Nadu'' Tamil weekly. But soon, on account of financial difficulties, he sold it to S. Sadanand, founder of ''The Free Press Journal'', another English newspaper.
