2021 European Artistic Gymnastics Championships
The 9th European Men's and Women's Artistic Gymnastics Individual Championships were held from 21–25 April 2021 at St. Jakobshalle in Basel, Switzerland. The 2021 European Championships were an Olympic qualifying event, with two individual spots available for both disciplines. Russia earned a non-nominative quota spot in both disciplines, while Turkey's Adem Asil and Romania's Larisa Iordache qualified nominative berths for themselves in men's and women's artistic gymnastics, respectively. The original qualifiers, the 2020 European Men's and 2020 European Women's Championships, were undesignated as such in light of the COVID-19 pandemic in Europe. Several members of the German women's team chose to compete in full body leotards – a move that, while always allowed, has been considered risky and/or controversial in the past – to make the gymnasts more comfortable while competing, as well as address and deter sexualization of the sport. Nikita Nagornyy
Nikita Vladimirovich Nagornyy ( rus, Никита Владимирович Нагорный, , nʲɪˈkʲitə nɐˈɡornɨɪ̯, born 12 February 1997 in Rostov-on-Don, Rostov Oblast, Russia) is a Russian artistic gymnast and two-time Olympian, representing Russia in 2016 and ROC in 2020. He was part of the teams who won gold at the 2020 Olympic Games and 2019 World Championships and silver at the 2016 Olympic Games and 2018 World Championships. Christian Baumann
Christian Baumann (born 25 February 1995) is a Swiss former artistic gymnast. He represented Switzerland at the 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics. He is the 2015 European silver medalist and the 2021 European bronze medalist in the parallel bars. He also won bronze medals with the Swiss team and on the pommel horse at the 2016 European Championships. Early life Baumann was born on 25 February 1995. He started gymnastics at the age of five at the TV Lenzburg club in Switzerland. Gymnastics career At the 2015 European Championships, he tied with Romania's Marius Berbecar for the silver medal on the parallel bars behind Ukraine's Oleg Verniaiev. Ferhat Arıcan
Ferhat Arıcan (born 28 July 1993) is a Turkish artistic gymnast. He represented Turkey at the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games. At the 2020 Olympic Games he became the first Turkish gymnast to win an Olympic medal, winning bronze on the parallel bars. Personal life Arıcan was born in Konak, İzmir in 1993. He took up gymnastics when he was 9–10 years old. He studied sports administration at Ege University. Giarnni Lorenzo Regini-Moran (born 2 August 1998) is a British artistic gymnast representing Great Britain and England internationally. Andrey Medvedev (, ; born April 6, 1990) is a USSR-born Israeli artistic gymnast. He won the bronze medal at the 2021 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Vault and two silver medals in Vault at the 2019 and the 2021 European Championships. Igor (Ihor) Vitaliyovych Radivilov (; born 19 October 1992) is a retired Ukrainian gymnast and four-time Olympian, having competed at the 2012, 2016, 2020, and 2024 Olympic Games. Eleftherios "Lefteris" Petrounias (, ; born 30 November 1990) is a Greek artistic gymnast. Joe Fraser (born 6 December 1998) is an English artistic gymnast. He is the 2022 European all-around and parallel bars champion and the 2019 world champion on the parallel bars. He is the first British gymnast to ever win gold in these events, and the third British world champion (following Beth Tweddle and Max Whitlock).
