2020–21 Miami Heat Season
The 2020–21 Miami Heat season was the 33rd season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Heat entered the season as both the defending Southeast Division and Eastern Conference champions. The season began just 72 days after the completion of the 2020 Finals, giving the Heat and the Los Angeles Lakers the shortest off-season in league history. With a win over the Boston Celtics 129–121, the Heat returned to the playoffs for the second straight year on May 11. They attempted to make back-to-back NBA Finals appearances for the first time since 2013 and 2014, but fell to the eventual champion Milwaukee Bucks in the first round in a four-game sweep in a rematch of last season's Conference semifinals in which the Heat won in five games. This is the first time that the Heat were swept in the playoffs since 2007 which was also in the first round against the Chicago Bulls. Erik Spoelstra
Erik Jon Spoelstra ( ; born November 1, 1970), nicknamed "Coach Spo", is an American professional basketball coach who is the head coach for the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association (NBA), and an assistant coach for the United States men's national basketball team. He is widely regarded as one of the best coaches in the league and one of the greatest of all time. Spoelstra won two NBA championships as the head coach of the Heat. A Filipino American, he is the first Asian American head coach in the history of the four major North American sports leagues and the first Asian American head coach to win an NBA title. Spoelstra played college basketball with the Portland Pilots before playing professionally and coaching in Germany. The NBA Finals is the annual championship series of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Eastern Conference (NBA), Eastern and Western Conference (NBA), Western Conference champions play a best-of-seven series to determine the league champion. NBA G League
The NBA G League, or simply the G League, is a professional basketball league in North America that serves as the Minor league#Basketball, developmental league of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The league comprises 31 teams; as of the 2024–25 NBA G League season, 2024–25 season, all are single-affiliated or owned by an NBA team except for the independent Mexico City Capitanes. The league was founded in 2001 as the National Basketball Development League (NBDL), renamed the NBA Development League (NBA D-League) in 2005. Christopher Quinn (born September 27, 1983) is an American professional basketball coach and former player who is the top assistant coach for the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association (NBA). High school Quinn played his high school basketball at Dublin Coffman High School in Dublin, Ohio, where he set 14 school records and was named Columbus Dispatch Player of the Year in 2002. He was also twice named first-team all-state and was runner-up for Mr. Basketball honors in Ohio as a senior finishing behind NBA star LeBron James. Octavio De La Grana
Octavio De La Grana (born January 28, 1961) is a Cuban-American basketball coach, currently working as an assistant coach for the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Coaching career By 2006, De La Grana had a combined 21 years of head coaching experience at the high school level, including two stints at Florida Christian School, where he led his team to the FHSAA Class 2A State Championship in 1996, a season in which he garnered Coach of the Year honors. James Caron Butler (born March 13, 1980) is an American professional basketball coach and former player who is an assistant coach for the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association. Malik Omar Allen (born June 27, 1978) is an American former professional basketball player, currently serving as an assistant coach for the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Professional career After four years at Villanova University Allen went undrafted in the 2000 NBA draft. Memphis Tigers Men's Basketball
The Memphis Tigers men's basketball team represents the University of Memphis in NCAA Division I men's college basketball. The Tigers have competed in the American Athletic Conference since 2013. As of 2020, the Tigers had the 26th highest winning percentage in National Collegiate Athletic Association, NCAA history. Precious Ezinna Achiuwa (born September 19, 1999) is a Nigerian professional basketball player who last played for the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Andre Tyler Iguodala ( ; born January 28, 1984) is an American former professional basketball player who played for 19 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The swingman was an NBA All-Star in 2012 and was named to the NBA All-Defensive Team twice. Iguodala won four NBA championships with the Golden State Warriors and was named the NBA Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 2015. 2006–07 Chicago Bulls Season
The 2006–07 Chicago Bulls season was the 41st season for the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The team finished with a record of 49–33 in the regular season and reached the second round of the NBA playoffs, making it, at the time, their most successful season since the retirement of Michael Jordan, but nevertheless leaving some doubt amongst fans as to whether the team could compete for an NBA championship in the near future.
