2020–21 Maine Black Bears Men's Ice Hockey Season
The 2020–21 Maine Black Bears Men's ice hockey season was the 46th season of play for the program, the 44th season competing at the Division I level, and the 37th season in the Hockey East conference. The Black Bears represented the University of Maine and played their home games at Alfond Arena, and were coached by Red Gendron, in his 8th season as their head coach. Season As a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic the entire college ice hockey season was delayed. Because the NCAA had previously announced that all winter sports athletes would retain whatever eligibility they possessed through at least the following year, none of Maine's players would lose a season of play. However, the NCAA also approved a change in its transfer regulations that would allow players to transfer and play immediately rather than having to sit out a season, as the rules previously required. Maine Black Bears Men's Ice Hockey
The Maine Black Bears men's ice hockey is an (National Collegiate Athletic Association, NCAA) Division I (NCAA), Division I college ice hockey program that represents the University of Maine. The Black Bears are a member of Hockey East. Home games are played at Harold Alfond Sports Arena commonly known as Alfond Arena in Orono, Maine. The Black Bears have appeared in 11 Frozen Fours, have a 28–18 record in NCAA Tournament games, and have won two national championships—in 1993 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament, 1993 and 1999 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament, 1999. Victor Östman
Victor Östman (born 3 October 2000) is a Swedish professional ice hockey goaltender for the Seattle Kraken of the National Hockey League (NHL). He had a four-year tenure with the Maine Black Bears ice hockey team of Hockey East before signing with the Kraken. Playing career Östman played hockey in Sweden with HV71's SuperElit junior team, as well as some stints with their Swedish Hockey League (SHL) team. Following three seasons with HV71, Östman opted to play in America, joining the Chicago Steel of the United States Hockey League (USHL) for the 2019–20 season.
