2020–21 FC Ural Yekaterinburg Season
The 2020–21 FC Ural Yekaterinburg season was Ural's club's eighth successive season in the Russian Premier League, the highest tier of association football in Russia. Ural Yekaterinburg finished the season in 12th position, and where knocked out of the Russian Cup at the Round of 16 stage by Ufa. Season events On 28 July, Ural extended their loan deal with Ihor Kalinin for another season, and extended their contract with Yuri Bavin. On 5 August, Ilya Pomazun joined Ural on loan for the season from CSKA Moscow. On 1 September, Stefan Strandberg returned to Ural after leaving Trapani. The following day, Ural announced the signing of Branko Jovičić from Red Star Belgrade. FC Ural Yekaterinburg () is a Russian professional association football club based in Yekaterinburg that plays in the Russian First League. History The club was founded in 1930 and was known as Avangard (1930–1948, 1953–1957), Zenit (1944–1946), Mashinostroitel (1958–1959), and Uralmash (1949–1952, 1960–2002). The club is currently named after the Russian region of Ural, where Yekaterinburg is the capital. The club participated in the Soviet championships beginning in 1945. Ilya Aleksandrovich Pomazun (; born 16 August 1996) is a Russian football player who plays as a goalkeeper for Spartak Moscow and the Russia national team. Career Club After first being included on CSKA Moscow roster in March 2012 at the age of 15, Pomazun made his debut in the Russian Premier League for the club on 6 August 2017 in a game against FC Rubin Kazan, due to an injury to the first-choice goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev. In the 2018–19 UEFA Champions League group stage 1–0 victory over defending champions Real Madrid, starting goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev was sent off for complaining. Andrei Vladimirovich Panyukov (; born 25 September 1994) is a Russian professional footballer who plays as a striker. Career Panyukov made his debut in the Russian Premier League on 21 July 2012 for Dynamo Moscow in a game vs Volga Nizhny Novgorod. He was the top scorer of the Under-21 Russian Premier League competition of Spring 2012, scoring 13 goals in 13 games. Danijel Miškić (born 11 October 1993) is a Croatian football central midfielder who plays in Russia for Ural Yekaterinburg. Career Miškić started off in the Croatia Sesvete academy before moving to the Dinamo Zagreb academy where he spent 6 season moving up the ranks.
