2020–21 Czech Extraliga Season
The 2020–21 Czech Extraliga season was the 28th season of the Czech Extraliga since its creation after the breakup of Czechoslovakia and the Czechoslovak First Ice Hockey League in 1993. HC Oceláři Třinec and HC Bílí Tygři Liberec reached the finals, in a repeat of the last completed season in 2018–19. Třinec again prevailed, winning the series by 4 games to 1. Regular season Standings Each team played 52 games, playing each of the other thirteen teams four times. Points were awarded for each game, where three points were awarded for winning in regulation time, two points for winning in overtime or shootout, one point for losing in overtime or shootout, and zero points for losing in regulation time. At the end of the regular season, the team that finished with the most points was crowned the league champion. Czech Extraliga
The Czech Extraliga () is the highest-level ice hockey league in the Czech Republic. It was created in 1993 following the peaceful dissolution of Czechoslovakia midway through the 1992–93 Czechoslovak Extraliga season (which all Slovak and Czech teams played to completion). The league's season usually takes place between September and April and features 14 teams. Teams from the ELH participate in the IIHF's annual European tournament in the CHL. During the 2022–23 CHL season, the ELH was ranked the No. 5 league in Europe, allowing them to send their top three teams to compete in the CHL. Liberec
Liberec (; ) is a city in the Czech Republic. It has about 108,000 inhabitants, making it the fifth largest city in the country. The Home Credit Arena is an indoor sporting arena located in Liberec, Czech Republic. The capacity of the arena is 9,000 people and it was built in 2005. Třinec
Třinec (; ; ) is a city in Frýdek-Místek District in the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic. Werk Arena is an indoor sporting arena located in Třinec, Czech Republic. The capacity of the arena is 5,400 people. History The arena was built in 2014.
