2020–21 Boston Celtics Season
The 2020–21 Boston Celtics season was the Celtics' 75th season in the National Basketball Association (NBA). As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the regular season for the league began on December 22, 2020, and featured a 72-game schedule rather than the typical 82-game schedule. The Celtics finished the regular season with a 36–36 record, and clinched a playoff spot after defeating the Washington Wizards with a score of 118–100 in the play-in tournament. In the opening round of the playoffs, the Celtics were defeated by the Brooklyn Nets in five games, marking the first time the Celtics were eliminated in the first round since 2016. Following the season, Danny Ainge left his position as general manager, and named head coach Brad Stevens as his replacement. Brad Stevens
Bradley Kent Stevens (born October 22, 1976) is an American basketball executive and former coach who is currently the president of basketball operations and de facto general manager for the Boston Celtics. Born and raised in Zionsville, Indiana, Stevens starred on the Zionsville Community High School basketball team, setting four school records. After high school, he attended DePauw University, where he played basketball and earned a degree in economics. Stevens made the all-conference team multiple times and was a three-time Academic All-America nominee. He transitioned into coaching after quitting his job at Eli Lilly and Company, joining the Butler Bulldogs men's basketball, basketball program at Butler University as a volunteer prior to the 2000–01 season. Vanderbilt Commodores Men's Basketball
The Vanderbilt Commodores men's basketball team represents Vanderbilt University in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The Commodores have won three SEC regular-season titles (1965, 1974 and 1993) and two SEC Tournament championships (1951 and 2012). They have competed in 15 NCAA Tournaments, making it to the Elite Eight once (1965) and the Sweet Sixteen six times (1965, 1974, 1988, 1993, 2004, and 2007). Vanderbilt has played in 14 National Invitation Tournaments, winning it in 1990 and finishing runners-up in 1994. The 2020–21 Philadelphia 76ers season was the 72nd season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The 76ers replaced Brett Brown with former Los Angeles Clippers coach Doc Rivers on October 3. In the shortened season (72 games instead of the normal 82) due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the 76ers finished the regular season at 49–23 which was first place in the Eastern Conference, one game ahead of the Brooklyn Nets. This was the first time since the 2000–01 club did so with a 56–26 record. In the opening round of the playoffs, the Sixers defeated the Washington Wizards in five games. In the conference semifinals against the Atlanta Hawks, the 76ers would lose in seven games which included a squandered 26-point lead in game 5. NBA G League
The NBA G League, or simply the G League, is a professional basketball league in North America that serves as the Minor league#Basketball, developmental league of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The league comprises 31 teams; as of the 2024–25 NBA G League season, 2024–25 season, all are single-affiliated or owned by an NBA team except for the independent Mexico City Capitanes. Evan Marcel Turner (born October 27, 1988) is an American professional basketball coach and former player. He was most recently an assistant coach for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was drafted second overall by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2010 NBA draft. Scott Morrison (born 1978) is a Canadian basketball coach who is currently an assistant coach for the Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Early life Morrison was born and raised in Morell, Prince Edward Island, and attended Morell Regional High School. Growing up, his father George was the head coach of the UPEI Panthers men's basketball program. Joe Mazzulla
Joseph Mazzulla (born June 30, 1988) is an American professional basketball coach who is the head coach for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Nicknamed "the Psycho", he played college basketball for West Virginia Mountaineers men's basketball, West Virginia University as a point guard.
