The 2020–21 Biathlon World Cup – Individual Men started on 28 November 2020 in Kontiolahti and will finished on 17 February 2021 in Pokljuka The Pokljuka Plateau () is a forested karst plateau at an elevation of around , located in the Julian Alps in northwestern Slovenia. The plateau is known for its forests, pasture, mountain pastures (Javornik, Lipanca, Uskovnica, Zajamniki, etc .... Competition format The individual race is the oldest biathlon event; the distance is skied over five laps. The biathlete shoots four times at any shooting lane, in the order of prone, standing, prone, standing, totalling 20 targets. Competitors' starts are staggered, normally by 30 seconds. The distance skied is usually 20 kilometres (12.4 mi) with a fixed penalty time of one minute per missed target that is added to the skiing time of the biathlete. 2020–21 Biathlon World Cup
The 2020–21 Biathlon World Cup (BWC) was a multi-race series over a season of biathlon, organised by the International Biathlon Union. The season started on 28 November 2020 in Kontiolahti, Finland and ended on 21 March 2021 in Östersund, Sweden. Starting from this season a blue bib will be introduced for the best biathlete under the age of 25. Calendar Below is the IBU World Cup calendar for the 2020–21 season. Michal Krčmář
Michal Krčmář (; born 23 January 1991) is a Czech biathlete and an Olympic silver medalist in the sprint at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. He was a part of the silver junior men's relay at Biathlon Junior World Championships 2012. Since 2013–14 season he has competed regularly at Biathlon World Cup and has amassed 300 World Cup Starts. He has competed at ten World Championships and three Olympic Games, including the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, and the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. His father, Daniel, represented Slovakia in biathlon at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. Personal life In April 2022, his long-time partner Ramona gave birth to their first child Viktor. Martin Ponsiluoma
Martin Ponsiluoma (born 8 September 1995) is a Swedish biathlete who competes internationally. He participated in the 2018 Winter Olympics and 2022 Winter Olympics. In the later he won a silver medal in mass start. He ended up on a World Cup podium position for first time when he came third during competitions in Nové Město na Moravě, Czech Republic on 20 December 2018. In the 2021 World Championships, he won gold in the sprint, which was also his first world cup win. Artem Pryma
Artem Pryma (, born 30 May 1987, Chernihiv, Ukrainian SSR) is a former Ukrainian World Cup level biathlete. He participated at 2014 and 2018 Winter Olympics. Career Pryma began competing internationally in 2006 but only participated in junior competitions. He debuted at World Cup on 14 January 2010, in German Ruhpolding, where he was 41st in the sprint. Then he started in relay together with his brother Roman but Roman screwed it up and had a penalty loop. The team finished 12th in that race. His first World Cup points he earned next year. At 2011 World Championships he was 25th in individual race. At 2011 Winter Universiade in Erzurum, Turkey, he won four medals, including two gold. Together with Serhiy Semenov and Vita Semerenko, they were the most successful biathletes at those competitions. He is also 2011 European champion in individual race. Sebastian Samuelsson
Sebastian Samuelsson (born 28 March 1997) is a Swedish biathlete who competes internationally. He participated in the 2018 Winter Olympics; there he won a silver medal in the 12.5 km pursuit event as well as the gold medal in the relay. He became a World champion at 2023 Oberhof when he won gold medal in 15 km Mass start race. Samuelsson has been outspoken on his views on the presence of doping in the sport, and has especially been critical of Russia and its anti-doping agency RUSADA. Tarjei Bø (born 29 July 1988) is a former Norwegian professional biathlete. Awarded Olympic gold medals, World Championship gold medals and World Cup victories from 2010 to 2025. Bø debuted in the Biathlon World Cup on 26 March 2009 in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia. In the 2010 Winter Olympics, he earned his first gold medal in the 4 × 7.5 km biathlon relay. On 10 December 2010 he won the World Cup sprint race in Hochfilzen, his first world cup victory. He also won the following pursuit race and anchored the winning relay team. Bø is the older brother of biathlete Johannes Thingnes Bø. Tarjei won the 2010 to 2011 biathlon crystal globe for having the most points overall in the season.
