The 2020–21 Azerbaijan Cup is the 29th season of the annual cup competition in Azerbaijan, with Premier League side Gabala being the defending champions from the 2018–19 season after the 2019–20 completion was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan Cup
The Azerbaijan Cup () is a major association football competition in Azerbaijan. In its original form, it started in 1936, when Azerbaijan was a republic of the Soviet Union and it was not disputed by Azerbaijani teams in the Soviet league pyramid. Compared to major football competitions in many other countries, the tournament in Azerbaijan attracts considerably less public interest and even the cup final is rarely sold out. Consequently, the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan has experimented with the format in order to raise the profile of the cup. Format The clubs from Azerbaijan First Division (2nd tier) play in the First Round. Sabail FK
Sabail FK (, ) is an Azerbaijani football club based in Baku. The club participates in the Azerbaijan Premier League. History The club was established in 2016 and immediately joined the Azerbaijan First Division. After finishing their first season in the Azerbaijan Premier League in 7th position, Samir Aliyev left the role as manager by mutual consent on 22 May 2018. Aftandil Hacıyev was appointed as the club's new manager on 11 June 2018. Sabail's 2024-25 season of the Azerbaijan Premier League was a dismal one. In the first half of the season, the club played 18 matches, winning only 2, drawing 3, and losing 13. Segun James Adeniyi (born 20 December 1992) is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Hapoel Hadera in the Israeli Premier League. Turan Tovuz () is an Azerbaijani football club based in Tovuz. The club won the Azerbaijan championship once, in 1994–1995. The club's home stadium is Tovuz City Stadium.
