The 2020–21 season was the 113th season in the existence of Atalanta BC and the club's 10th consecutive season in the top flight of Italian football. In addition to the domestic league, Atalanta participated in this season's editions of the Coppa Italia and the UEFA Champions League. The season covered the period from 13 August 2020 to 30 June 2021. Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio (), commonly referred to as Atalanta, is a professional football club based in Bergamo, Lombardy, Italy, who compete in Serie A, the top tier of the Italian league system. Founded in 1907, Atalanta holds the record for having played the most Serie A seasons (64) without being based in a regional capital and without having won the league title. Furthermore, the club also holds the record for most promotions to the Serie A and the joint-most Serie B titles, alongside Genoa. Cristian Gabriel Romero (born 27 April 1998) is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for club Tottenham Hotspur and the Argentina national team. Coming through the youth system, Romero began his senior career in 2016 at Belgrano. He moved to Italy in 2018, playing for Genoa. Romero was purchased by Juventus the following season; he was sent back on loan to Genoa before being sent on loan to Atalanta in 2020. Marten De Roon
Marten Elco de Roon (born 29 March 1991) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for club Atalanta and the Netherlands national team. After representing various Dutch youth teams, he started his career at Sparta Rotterdam, and also played for SC Heerenveen in his home country before moving to Italian club Atalanta in 2015. Remo Marco Freuler (; born 15 April 1992) is a Swiss professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for club Bologna and the Switzerland national team. Joakim Mæhle Pedersen (born 20 May 1997) is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a full-back for Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg and the Denmark national team.
