Sundance Institute is a non-profit organization founded by actor Robert Redford committed to the growth of independent artists. The institute is driven by its programs that discover and support independent filmmakers, theatre artists and composers from all over the world. At the core of the programs is the goal to introduce audiences to the artists' new work, aided by the institute's labs, granting and mentorship programs that take place throughout the year in the United States and internationally. Esteban Arango is a Colombian American filmmaker. Early life and education Arango was born in Bogotá, Colombia and moved with his family to the United States in 2000. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in communications from Florida International University. Career After graduating college, Arango worked as a creative producer at the Discovery Channel. Channing Godfrey Peoples
Channing Godfrey Peoples is an American writer, director, and producer. Her feature film directorial debut '' Miss Juneteenth'' received critical acclaim. Early life and education Peoples was raised on the south side of Fort Worth in what she referred to as "Black Texas". Her family regularly attended Black theatre performances, which influenced Peoples to read classic Black literature by writers such as Toni Morrison and Gloria Naylor. She received her bachelor's degree in theater from Baylor University and her master of fine arts degree from University of Southern California. Lee Isaac Chung (born October 19, 1978) is an American filmmaker. His debut feature '' Munyurangabo'' (2007) was an official selection at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival and the first narrative feature film in the Kinyarwanda language. Ekwa Msangi
Ekwa Msangi is a Tanzanian-American filmmaker, producer, and screenwriter. She teaches Production and Cultural Studies at New York University. Early life Msangi was born to immigrants in Oakland, California. Her parents were Fulbright scholars who attended Stanford University in the 1980s. She was raised in Kenya after her family moved there when she was five years old. In 1998, Msangi was accepted into the NYU Tisch School of the Arts where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in film and television. Adam Carter Rehmeier is an American film director, writer and cinematographer best known for his coming of age films '' Dinner in America'' and '' Snack Shack''. Early life Rehmeier grew up in Nebraska City, Nebraska, the son of District Judge Randall Rehmeier. As a teenager in the early 1990s he worked the snack shack, at Steinhart Park Pool in the Missouri River community, an experience he would later write into his film ''Snack Shack''.
