2020 Pan American Wrestling Olympic Qualification Tournament
The 2020 Olympic Wrestling Pan American Qualification Tournament was the first regional qualifying tournament for the 2020 Summer Olympics. The event was held from 13 to 15 March 2020, in Ottawa, Canada. Qualification summary A total of 36 athletes secured a spot in the 2020 Summer Olympics, in Tokyo. Two spots were given to each of the weight classes. This allows a total of 12 available spots for each event. Every winner and runner-up per class were awarded their place for wrestling, at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Quota places are allocated to the respective NOC and not to competitor that achieved the place in the qualification event. Rogers Centre Ottawa
Rogers Centre Ottawa (formerly the Ottawa Convention Centre and the Shaw Centre) is a convention centre located in the Downtown Ottawa, downtown core of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It opened in April 2011. The award-winning architecture was designed by Ritchard Brisbin (bbb architects Ottawa). The Centre replaces the Ottawa Congress Centre, which opened in 1983 and is built on the site of the Ottawa Congress Centre building which was demolished in 2008–2009. In October 2014, the Ottawa Convention Centre and Shaw Communications entered a ten-year naming right agreement that saw the venue renamed to the Shaw Centre. Agustín Alejandro Destribats (born October 30, 1997) is an Argentine freestyle wrestler who competes at 65 kilograms. He has represented Argentina at the 2020 Summer Olympics, at the 2023 Pan American Games, earning bronze, and the 2018 and 2022 editions of the South American Games, earning silver and gold respectively. A bronze medalist at the 2020 Individual World Cup, Destribats also claimed the gold medal in the 2025 edition of the Pan American Championships, where he is a five-time medalist. He competed in the men's freestyle 65 kg event at the 2016 Summer Olympics, in which he was eliminated in the repechage by Haislan Garcia of Canada. Zain Allen Retherford ( ; born May 21, 1995) is an American freestyle wrestler and graduated folkstyle wrestler who competes at 70 kilograms. In freestyle, he is a gold and silver medalist at the World Championships, as well as a Pan-American champion.
