2019–20 Stade Brestois 29 Season
The 2019–20 season was Stade Brestois 29's 70th season in existence and the club's first season back in the top flight of French football. In addition to the domestic league, Brest participated in this season's editions of the Coupe de France and the Coupe de la Ligue. The season covered the period from 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020. Stade Brestois 29, commonly known as Stade Brestois or simply Brest,''Stade Brest'', used by some English-speaking media outlets and journalists, is not a grammatically correct name for the club. is a French professional football club based in Brest. It was founded in 1950 following the merger of five local patronages, including Armoricaine de Brest, founded in 1903. The club has competed in Ligue 1, the top division of French football, ever since being promoted to the top flight during the 2018–19 season. In its early years, Brest made a rapid rise in the hierarchy of regional football, to the point of being promoted to the Championnat de France Amateur in 1958. The club joined the Division 2 in 1970, then finally reached the Division 1 in 1979. Alexandre Mendy (born 20 March 1994) is a professional footballer who plays as a forward for club Caen. Born in France, he plays for the Guinea-Bissau national team. Paul Bastien Lasne (born 16 January 1989) is a French professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for club Paris FC.
