2019–20 Hong Kong Second Division League
The 2019–20 Hong Kong Second Division League was the 6th season of the Hong Kong Second Division since it became the third-tier football league in Hong Kong in 2014–15. The season began on 15 September 2019 and ended on 16 April 2020 when the Hong Kong Football Association announced the cancellation of all lower division seasons due to the 2020 coronavirus pandemic in Hong Kong. Hong Kong Second Division League
Hong Kong Second Division League () is the third level of association football, football league in Hong Kong founded in 1909. The top two teams are promoted to the Hong Kong First Division League, Hong Kong First Division. Competition format * The teams play single round robin. After each team has played every team once, the table is split into a Championship Group for the top eight teams and a Challenging Group for the bottom seven. The teams then play another single round robin within their respective groups. * The bottom two teams are relegated to the Hong Kong Third Division League, Hong Kong Third Division. Sham Shui Po SA
Sham Shui Po Sports Association () is a Hong Kong professional football club based in Sham Shui Po District which currently competes in the Hong Kong First Division. History Sham Shui Po began fielding a football team in the Hong Kong football league system in 2002 as part of a Hong Kong Football Association initiative to involve district representative teams. Sham Shui Po were part of a group of 11 districts which participated in the inaugural season of this project. In the 2010–11 season, Sham Shui Po achieved promotion to the Hong Kong Second Division. In the 2011–12 season, the club was promoted to the top-tier Hong Kong First Division for the first time in the club's history after winning the Second Division league title, but was relegated after finishing bottom out of 10 teams. Wanchai Sports Federation () is a football club which currently plays in the Hong Kong Third Division League. The club is operated by the Wan Chai District Council. The club plays its home matches at Happy Valley Recreation Ground. History In 2002, the Hong Kong Football Association introduced the Hong Kong Third District Division League, which was formed by teams operating by each District Council of Hong Kong. Wanchai was one of 11 clubs to join the league in the first season. The club did not perform well since they were formed as they were usually placing at the bottom half of league table. In the 2008–09 season, the club were placed at the bottom of the table among 15 teams, only had won one match (vs Wong Tai Sin, originally lost 0–6. Kwong Wah Athletic Association () are a football club that currently plays in the Hong Kong Second Division. The team's home matches are played throughout Hong Kong. History Kwong Wah were formed in 1936 by a group of coworkers at CLP Group. Among them, there were local and foreign players including future star Hau Yung Seng. The year after their formation, they won the 1937–38 Hong Kong Junior Shield as well as promotion into the Hong Kong Second Division. The club reached the Hong Kong First Division in 1947. Sparta Asia Football Club () is a Hong Kong football club currently competing in the Hong Kong Second Division. During the 2008–09 season, it once competed in the top-tier Hong Kong First Division, and was relegated after finishing 12th out of 13 teams. At the end of the 2010–11 season, after gaining promotion to the First Division from the runner-up position in the Second Division, it withdrew from the First Division and was expunged from the Hong Kong league system by the HKFA. IT rejoined the league system and competed in the Fourth Division in the 2012–13 season.
