2019–20 FC Akhmat Grozny Season
The 2019–20 FC Akhmat Grozny season was the 11th successive season that the club will play in the Russian Premier League, the highest tier of association football in Russia. Season events On 3 June, Akhmat Grozny announced their first summer signing, with Konrad Michalak joining from Lechia Gdańsk on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee. The following day, 4 June, Andrés Ponce also signed a four-year contract after joining from Anzhi Makhachkala. After signing a new contract with Akhmat at the end of the 2018–19 season, Zaurbek Pliyev moved to Dynamo Moscow on 9 June, with young goalkeeper Aleksandr Melikhov signing a five-year contract from FC Tom Tomsk on 12 June. Republican Football Club Akhmat (; ), commonly known as Akhmat Grozny, and formerly as Terek Grozny from 1958 to 2017, is a Russian professional Association football, football club based in Grozny that plays in the Russian Premier League. History The club was founded in 1946, as ''Dynamo''; it changed its name in 1948 to ''Neftyanik'' and in 1958 to ''Terek''. On 7 June 2017, the team was renamed ''Akhmat'', after Akhmad Kadyrov, former Head of the Chechen Republic, President of the Chechen Republic. In the 1990s the club was disbanded for some time due to the First Chechen War, war in Chechnya. From the 1990s to 2007 the club played its home games in the neighbouring resort town, resort city of Pyatigorsk, Stavropol Krai. Andrés Ponce
Andrés Fabián Ponce Núñez (born 11 November 1996) is a Venezuelan professional footballer who plays as a striker for Academia Puerto Cabello. Career Club On 27 July 2018, Ponce signed with the Russian Premier League club Anzhi Makhachkala. On 4 June 2019, Ponce signed a 4-year contract with another Russian Premier League club Akhmat Grozny. On 16 October 2020, he was loaned to Rotor Volgograd. On 7 August 2021, his contract with Akhmat was terminated by mutual consent. On 31 August 2021, he joined Danish club Vejle. On 29 January 2023, Vejle confirmed that Ponce's contract had been terminated by mutual agreement. Later on the same day, he signed with Russian First League club Akron Tolyatti. Ponce left Akron on 14 June 2024, as his contract expired.
