2019–20 Cairns Taipans Season
The 2019–20 Cairns Taipans season was the 21st season for the Cairns Taipans in the NBL, and their second season under the guidance of head coach Mike Kelly. The team consisted of their imports (Scott Machado, D. J. Newbill and Cameron Oliver), eight regular roster players ( George Blagojevic, Majok Deng, Mirko Djeric, Anthony Fisher, Nathan Jawai, Jarrod Kenny, Fabijan Krslovic and Kouat Noi) and their two development players (Tad Dufelmeier and Tai Wynyard). The squad was widely considered to be the underdogs of the NBL, with their roster lacking depth and having four rookies on their roster (Blagojevic, Fisher, Krslovic and Noi). These predictions also coupled with the Taipans' previous season, during which they struggled to compile wins and finished with a 6–22 record (include a run of 14 consecutive losses). Anthony Fisher
Anthony Colin Fisher (born 10 March 1960) is an Australian prelate of the Catholic Church and a friar of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans). Since 12 November 2014, he has been the ninth Catholic Archbishop of Sydney. Melbourne United is an Australian professional basketball team based in Melbourne, Victoria. United compete in the National Basketball League (NBL) and play their home games at John Cain Arena. The team made their debut in the NBL in 1984 as the Melbourne Tigers. Adelaide 36ers
The Adelaide 36ers are an Australian professional men's basketball team in the National Basketball League (NBL). The 36ers are the only team in the league representing the state of South Australia and are based in the state's capital of Adelaide. The club was originally called the Adelaide City Eagles when they joined the NBL in 1982, but changed their name to the 36ers the following year. Aaron Grabau
Aaron Grabau (born 8 February 1978) is an Australian former professional basketball player. He played 14 seasons for the Cairns Taipans of the National Basketball League (NBL). Early life Grabau was born in Melbourne, Victoria], and played as a junior for the Dandenong Rangers. Basketball career Grabau made his NBL debut in 1996 with the Geelong Supercats. He joined the inaugural Cairns Taipans team in 1999. The Perth Wildcats are an Australian professional basketball team based in Perth, Western Australia. Tai Hikuroa Wynyard (born 5 February 1998) is a New Zealand professional basketball player who last played for the New Zealand Breakers of the Australian National Basketball League (NBL). He began his career playing in his home country for the Breakers of the Australian NBL and the Super City Rangers of the New Zealand NBL. After a two-year stint in the United States playing college basketball for Kentucky, Wynyard returned to the Australian and New Zealand NBL. Tad Dufelmeier
Tad Dufelmeier Jr. (born 9 February 1996) is an Australian professional basketball player for the Chennai Heat of the Indian National Basketball League (INBL). He played college basketball in the United States for Salt Lake Community College and Concordia University Irvine. Early life Born and raised in Canberra, Australia, Dufelmeier attended Erindale College. He was named to the under-17 Australian National Team and won an Asia-Pacific Games Silver Medal.
