2019 Winton SuperSprint
The 2019 Winton SuperSprint was a motor racing event for the Supercars Championship, held on 24-26 May 2019. The event was held at the Winton Motor Raceway near Benalla, Victoria and consisted of two races of 120 and 200 kilometres in length. It was the sixth round of fifteen in the 2019 Supercars Championship and hosted Races 13 and 14 of the season. DJR Team Penske's Scott McLaughlin won both races, further extending his championship lead. Report Background Entry alterations The event was open to wildcard entries which saw the grid expand to twenty-five cars. Brad Jones Racing entered a Holden Commodore ZB for Jack Smith, who made his second event start in the Supercars Championship, following his wildcard entry at the 2019 Tasmania SuperSprint. Richie Stanaway withdrew from the event following Race 13 due to a neck injury. He was replaced for the remainder of the event by nominated endurance co-driver Chris Pither. Benalla, Victoria
Benalla is a small city located on the Broken River gateway to the High Country north-eastern region of Victoria, Australia, about north east of the state capital Melbourne. The 2019 Perth SuperNight (known for sponsorship purposes as the Pirtek Perth SuperNight) was a motor racing event for the Supercars Championship, held on 2-4 May 2019. Chris Pither (born 3 December 1986) is a New Zealand professional racing driver, currently competing in the Supercars Championship driving the No. 22 Holden ZB Commodore for PremiAir Racing. Pither has won eight national championships including; three New Zealand karting titles, the New Zealand Holden HQ Series in 2003 and 2004, the NZ V8 Ute Championship Series in 2010 as well as the NZ and Australian V8 Ute Racing Series in 2011. Richie Stanaway
Richie Stanaway (born 24 November 1991) is a racing car driver from New Zealand. Career New Zealand Born in Tauranga, Stanaway was originally from a motocross background, before making the switch to speedway at the age of twelve. Following that came a brief foray into kart racing prior to making his formula car debut in 2007 after being selected for the New Zealand SpeedSport Scholarship. He competed in the 2007/08 Formula First championship finishing third overall as the highest placed rookie.
