The 2019 Scottish Open (officially the 2019 19.com Scottish Open) was a professional snooker tournament, which took place from 9 to 15 December 2019 at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, Scotland. It was the eighth Snooker world rankings, ranking event of the 2019–20 snooker season and the third tournament of the Home Nations Series. The event featured a prize fund of £405,000, with the winner receiving £70,000, and was sponsored by sports bookmakers 19.com. The tournament was broadcast across Europe on Eurosport. The defending champion was Mark Allen (snooker player), Mark Allen who completed a 9–7 defeat of Shaun Murphy in the 2018 Scottish Open (snooker), 2018 final, but he lost 5–6 to Jack Lisowski in the semi-finals. The Scottish Open is a Snooker world rankings, ranking professional snooker tournament held in the United Kingdom. The tournament had many name changes in its history, as the tournament was formerly called International Open, Matchroom Trophy and Players Championship. Apart from a hiatus in the Snooker season 1990/1991, 1990/1991 and Snooker season 1991/1992, 1991/1992 seasons, the tournament remained a ranking event until Snooker season 2003/2004, 2003/2004. In the Snooker season 2012/2013, 2012/2013 season the tournament was added back to the calendar as part of the Players Tour Championship 2012/2013, Players Tour Championship minor-ranking series. Thepchaiya Un-Nooh (, ; born 18 April 1985) is a Thai professional snooker player. He has won one ranking event, the 2019 Snooker Shoot Out, and finished as runner-up in the 2019 World Open. He is regarded as one of the fastest snooker players on the World Tour, averaging less than 17 seconds per shot during the 2017–18 and the 2019–20 snooker seasons. Andy Hicks
Andrew Hicks (born 10 August 1973) is an English retired professional snooker player. Nicknamed "The Cream of Devon", Hicks was a semi-finalist at both the World Snooker Championship and UK Championship in 1995, and the same stage at four other ranking tournaments. A Masters semi-finalist in 1996, he was ranked within the world's top 32 players between 1995 and 2000, and again from 2005 to 2007, but was relegated from the main tour in 2013. He regained a two-year tour card in 2019. He was relegated from the main tour at the end of the 2023–24 season. World Professional Billiards And Snooker Association
The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) is the governing body of professional snooker and English billiards. It is headquartered in Bristol, England.
