The 2019 Japan Women's Open was a women's tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. It was the eleventh edition of the Japan Women's Open, and part of the WTA International tournaments of the 2019 WTA Tour. It was held at the Regional Park Tennis Stadium in Hiroshima, Japan, from September 9 through September 15, 2019. WTA International Tournaments
The WTA International Tournaments was a category for professional tennis tournaments of the Women's Tennis Association from the 2009 WTA Tour until 2020, which replaced the previous Tier III and Tier IV categories. The winner of a WTA International adds 280 points to her WTA ranking. Kurumi Nara
is a Japanese former professional tennis player. She has won one singles title on the WTA Tour, as well as six singles and three doubles titles on the ITF Women's Circuit. On 18 August 2014, she reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 32. On 2 May 2016, she peaked at No. 109 in the WTA doubles rankings.
