2019 Campeonato Brasileiro Série D
The 2019 Campeonato Brasileiro Série D was a football competition held in Brazil, equivalent to the fourth division. The competition started on 4 May and ended on 18 August 2019. Sixty-eight teams competed in the tournament. Sixty-four teams qualified from their state leagues and cups, and four relegated from the 2018 Campeonato Brasileiro Série C (Joinville Esporte Clube, Joinville, Sociedade Desportiva Juazeirense, Juazeirense, Salgueiro Atlético Clube, Salgueiro and Tupi Football Club, Tupi). Brusque Futebol Clube, Brusque, Ituano FC, Ituano, Esporte Clube Jacuipense, Jacuipense and Manaus Futebol Clube, Manaus qualified for the semi-finals and were promoted to the 2020 Campeonato Brasileiro Série C. The finals between Brusque Futebol Clube, Brusque and Manaus Futebol Clube, Manaus finished in a 4–4 draw on aggregate, but Brusque clinched their first title by winning 6–5 on penalties. Campeonato Brasileiro Série D
The Campeonato Brasileiro Série D (English: Brazilian Championship Serie D), commonly known as the Série D or the Brazilian Série D to distinguish it from the Italian Serie D, is the fourth division of the Brazilian football league system, and was announced by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) on 9 April 2008. The Campeonato Brasileiro Série D was formed from the split of the Campeonato Brasileiro Série C, Série C, keeping its best 20 clubs and playing double round robin as does the top three divisions. The Série D keeps the same format of the older Série C, but with participation limited to 40 clubs recognized by the state federation. In 2016 the Série D was expanded to 68 clubs, but in 2022 it was reduced to 64 clubs. 2020 Campeonato Brasileiro Série C
The 2020 Campeonato Brasileiro Série C was a football competition held in Brazil, equivalent to the third division. The competition was originally scheduled to begin on 3 May and end on 8 November, however due to COVID-19 pandemic the tournament was rescheduled for 8 August 2020 – 30 January 2021. Twenty teams competed in the tournament, twelve returning from the 2019 season, four promoted from the 2019 Campeonato Brasileiro Série D ( Brusque, Manaus, Ituano and Jacuipense) and four relegated from the 2019 Campeonato Brasileiro Série B (Londrina, São Bento, Criciúma and Vila Nova). The matches Treze v Imperatriz, scheduled for 9 August 2020 (Group A 1st round), and Imperatriz v Jacuipense, scheduled for 15 August 2020 (Group A 2nd round), were postponed after 14 Imperatriz players tested positive for COVID-19.
