2018–19 Ukrainian Second League
The 2018–19 Ukrainian Second League was the 28th since its establishment. The competition started on 21 July 2018 with the match between Myr and FC Nikopol. The competition entered in recess for a winter break which started after the completion of Round 17 on 11 November 2018 and resumed on 31 March 2019. The season competitions were scheduled to be completed on 1 June 2019 (later ending on 25 May 2019 due to reduction of participants) culminating with a two legged play-off for promotion held between the two second place from both groups and the 13th and 14th placed teams from the 2018–19 Ukrainian First League on 29 May and 2 June 2019. Format The PFL composition of the league was approved at the PFL Conference on 27 June 2017, yet the final composition with the competition regulations will be approved later by the FFU Executive Committee. Ukrainian Second League
The Ukrainian Second League (, ''Druha Liha'') is a professional football league in Ukraine which is part of the Professional Football League of Ukraine, a collective member of the Ukrainian Association of Football. As the third tier it was established in 1992 as the Transitional League and changed its name the next season. The league is lower than the Ukrainian First League (''Persha Liha'') and the lowest level of professional football competitions in the country. Since 1996 the league, after being merged with its lower tier (in 1992–1995 there was the Third League), consists of two main regions roughly north-west and south-east. The league's relegated teams lose their professional status and return to their regional associations. 2019–20 Ukrainian Second League
The 2019–20 Ukrainian Second League was the 29th since its establishment. On 6 June 2019 the PFL council of leagues presented its plan draft ("contours") for the next season for both its First and its Second leagues. The final decision for the season was adopted at the 27th PFL Conference that took place on 27 June 2019. Summary The season kicked off on 27 July 2019 along with the First League. Both groups A and B completed their double round-robin tournament on 23 November 2019 before going on winter break. Following the break the spring half of the season that should have started on 21 March 2020 and featured another single round-robin tournament ending on 23 May 2020. Okhtyrka
Okhtyrka (, ; ) is a city in Sumy Oblast, Ukraine. It serves as the administrative center of Okhtyrka Raion within the oblast. Okhtyrka was once home to Hussars and Cossacks. It was also in the past a regional seat of the Sloboda Ukraine Imperial Region and of the Ukrainian SSR. Since the discovery of oil and gas in 1961, Okhtyrka has come to be known as the "oil capital" of Ukraine. It is home to the former Okhtyrka (air base), Okhtyrka air base and other historical and religious sites. Some religious buildings in Okhtyrka were almost destroyed in the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Name The city of Okhtyrka is located on the banks of the Okhtyrka river. According to the most approved etymology, the city is named after the river. FC Naftovyk-Ukrnafta Okhtyrka
Football Club Naftovyk Okhtyrka is a Ukraine, Ukrainian amateur association football, football club based in Okhtyrka, Sumy Oblast, where it was founded in 1980. The name of the club means "oiler" in Ukrainian. Ukrnafta company owned the club between 2004 and 2018. The club was dissolved in July 2018, but refounded again in 2020. History Naftovyk Okhtyrka was created as a team of the Oil and Gaz administration "Okhtyrkanaftogaz" (today part of Ukrnafta) in 1980. Naftovyk Okhtyrka took part in the first Ukrainian Premier League season in 1992, after being initially chosen to participate for being the Ukrainian SSR Champion in 1991 (Note: republican level championships were part of Soviet Second League B). Naftovyk Okhtyrka took 8th place in its group that Ukrainian Premier League 1992, season and was demoted to the Persha Liha as a result.
