The 2018–19 Polish Cup was the 62nd edition of the Polish Men's Volleyball Cup, Polish Volleyball Cup tournament. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the program at the Atlanta 1996 Summer Olympics. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. Basic play The complete set of rules is extensive, but play essentially proceeds as follows: a player on one of the teams begins a 'rally' by serving the ball (tossing or releasing it and then hitting it with a hand or arm), from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team's court. Onico Warsaw
Projekt Warsaw, officially known as PGE Projekt Warszawa, is a professional men's volleyball club based in Warsaw in central Poland. They compete in the Polish PlusLiga, the top flight of Polish volleyball. The club started as the volleyball section of the Academic Sports Association at the Warsaw University of Technology (AZS Politechnika Warszawska) in 1954. In 2005 it was transferred into a separate limited liability company and it has used various sponsor names since then. In 2017 the ''AZS Politechnika Warszawska'' name was abandoned in favour of the sponsor name ''Orico Warszawa''. Since 2019 the club's main name has been Projekt Warszawa. 2018–19 PlusLiga
The 2018–19 PlusLiga was the 83rd season of the Polish Volleyball Championship, the 19th season as a professional league organized by the Polish Volleyball League SA () under the supervision of the Polish Volleyball Federation (). Due to financial issues of Stocznia Szczecin, the players have not received their salaries since the beginning of the season and most of them decided to leave the club by terminating their contracts by mutual agreement in late November or early December. On 13 December 2018, Stocznia withdrew from the competition. ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle won their 8th title of the Polish Champions. Benjamin Toniutti
Benjamin Toniutti (born 30 October 1989) is a French professional volleyball player who plays as a setter for and captains both the Polish club Jastrzębski Węgiel and the France national team. Toniutti won a gold medal in the men's tournament at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, and is the 2015 European Champion and the 2021 Champions League winner with ZAKSA. Personal life Toniutti was born and raised in Alsace by his father Maurizio, an Italian French, and French mother Cathy. His parents often travel to attend Toniutti's league matches. Toniutti is fluent in Italian. He is married. In August 2015, his wife gave birth to their daughter. Łukasz Kaczmarek
Łukasz Kaczmarek (born 29 June 1994) is a Polish professional volleyball player who plays as an opposite spiker for Jastrzębski Węgiel and the Poland national team. Kaczmarek took part in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo and won silver at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. He was a silver medallist with Poland at the 2022 World Championship. He is a three–time Champions League winner (2021, 2022, 2023) with ZAKSA. Career Kaczmarek began his sporting career as a beach volleyball player. In 2015, he debuted in PlusLiga as Cuprum Lubin player. In 2016, he signed a new two–year contract with Cuprum Lubin, and became one of the best scorers in PlusLiga. Łukasz Wiśniewski
Łukasz Wiśniewski (born 3 February 1989) is a Polish professional volleyball player who plays as a middle blocker for Skra Bełchatów. He is a former member of the Poland men's national volleyball team, Poland national team. Personal life Wiśniewski was born in Włodawa. His mother trained handball and his father is a former association football, footballer. On 10 May 2014, Wiśniewski married Katarzyna (née Łuszczewska). Paweł Zatorski (born 21 June 1990) is a Polish professional volleyball player who plays as a libero for Asseco Resovia and the Poland national team. Zatorski took part in 3 Olympic Games (Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024, winning a silver medal at the latter), and is a two–time World Champion (2014, 2018) and the 2021 Champions League winner with ZAKSA. Dawid Andrzej Konarski (born 31 August 1989) is a Polish professional volleyball player who plays as an opposite spiker for Al Nassr. He is a former member of the Poland national team, a participant in the Olympic Games Rio 2016, and a two–time World Champion (2014, 2018).
