2018–19 McNeese State Cowboys Basketball Team
The 2018–19 McNeese State Cowboys basketball team represented McNeese State University during the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Cowboys were led by 1st-year head coach Heath Schroyer and played their home games at the new on-campus Health and Human Performance Education Complex in Lake Charles, Louisiana as members of the Southland Conference. Previous season The Cowboys finished the 2017–18 season 11–17, 8–10 in Southland play to finish in a three-way tie for eighth place. They failed to qualify for the Southland tournament. Heath Schroyer
Heath Martin Schroyer (born March 15, 1972) is an American college basketball coach, currently the athletic director at McNeese State University, where he was head coach of the men's basketball team from 2018 until 2021. He has had previous head coaching stops at Portland State University (2002–05), University of Wyoming (2007–11) and University of Tennessee-Martin (2014–16). He was married twice (Karen Schroyer and Kim Ortega). Current girlfriend is Diana Vallette. Playing career Schroyer, born in Walkersville, Maryland, played high school basketball under head coach Morgan Wootten at DeMatha Catholic High School. Following high school, he was an All-Conference player at Kings River Community College before playing at Armstrong Atlantic State University, where he graduated in 1995 with a degree in liberal studies. Desert Financial Arena (formerly ASU Activity Center and Wells Fargo Arena) is a 14,198-seat multi-purpose arena located at 600 E Veterans Way in Tempe, Arizona, United States, in the Phoenix metropolitan area. It sits immediately east of Mountain America Stadium on the northern edge of the Tempe campus of Arizona State University (ASU). The 2018–19 Arizona State Sun Devils men's basketball team represented Arizona State University during the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Sun Devils, led by fourth-year head coach Bobby Hurley, played their home games at Wells Fargo Arena (Tempe), Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe, Arizona as members of Pac-12 Conference men's basketball, Pac–12 Conference. They finished the season 23–11, 12–6 in Pac-12 play to finish for second place. In the 2019 Pac-12 Conference men's basketball tournament, Pac-12 tournament, the Sun Devils defeated UCLA in the quarterfinals and lost to Oregon in the semifinals. MGM Resorts Main Event
The Continental Tire Main Event (formerly known as the MGM Grand Main Event, Men Who Speak Up Main Event, MGM Resorts Main Event, Roman Main Event, Men's Vegas Bubble) was a four-team college basketball tournament held during Monday and Wednesday of Thanksgiving week of the NCAA Division I men's basketball season, with the inaugural tournament beginning in 2014. Tournament format The tournament originally featured two four-team brackets (labeled Heavyweight and Middleweight) with each team playing two games in Las Vegas. Members of the Heavyweight bracket each host at least one member of the Middleweight bracket on campus before the tournament. Moraga, California
Moraga is a town in Contra Costa County, California, United States. Located in the San Francisco Bay Area, the town is named in honor of Joaquín Moraga, member of the famed Californio family. As of 2020, Moraga had a total population of 16,870 people. Moraga is the home of Saint Mary's College of California. McKeon Pavilion
University Credit Union Pavilion (formerly McKeon Pavilion) is a 3,500-seat multi-purpose arena at Saint Mary's College of California in Moraga, California. Home men's and women's basketball and volleyball games are held in the gymnasium, the team nickname being the Gaels. Many athletic camps for youths also use the gym, primarily in the summer, and other on-campus events, such as the Baccalaureate mass, are also held there. Banners commemorating successful seasons, championships and post-season appearances for all Saint Mary's sports hang on the back wall. At well-attended games, the court-level bleachers opposite the benches are reserved entirely for students. Common criticism of the gym, including by students, is its age and size. Two human polls made up the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball rankings, the AP Poll and the Coaches Poll, in addition to various publications' preseason polls. Legend AP Poll USA Today Coaches Poll The Coaches Poll is the second oldest poll still in use after the AP Poll. It is compiled by a rotating group of 31 college Division I head coaches. The Poll operates by Borda count. Each voting member ranks teams from 1 to 25. Each team then receives points for their ranking in reverse order: Number 1 earns 25 points, number 2 earns 24 points, and so forth. The points are then combined and the team with the highest points is then ranked No. 1; second highest is ranked No. 2 and so forth. Only the top 25 teams with points are ranked, with teams receiving first place votes noted the quantity next to their name. The maximum points a single team can earn is 775.
