Cuban National Series
The Cuban National Series (, or SNB) is a domestic baseball competition in Cuba. Formed after the dissolution of the Cuban League in the wake of the Cuban Revolution, the National Series is a part of the Cuban baseball league system. For most of its existence, the National Series has existed as the top-level winter league in Cuba. From 2022 to 2024, it operated as a summer league, with the top six National Series teams qualifying for the Cuban Elite League (LEB). Starting with the 2025–26 season, SNB will return to a winter league schedule, while still qualifying teams to the LEB. History The Cuban National Series was instituted in replacement of the Cuban League, which had operated since 1878, as in March 1961 the Cuban government abolished professional baseball. Leñadores De Las Tunas
Leñadores de Las Tunas (English: Las Tunas Lumberjacks) is a baseball team in the Cuban National Series. Based in the city of Las Tunas, the ''Leñadores'', or ''Magos'' (also known as the ''Espinosos''), were long a perennial last-place team in Group C. Led by Osmani Urrutia in the early 1990s, the ''Magos'' were competitive, finishing with winning records in 2004–05 and 2005–06. Shortstop Alex Guerrero, hit a .303/.385/.526 slash line with 103 home runs and 413 RBI in 559 games from 2004-05 through 2011-12. The teams plays at the Julio Antonio Mella Stadium, inaugurated in 1945 and with a capacity 13,000 spectators. Las Tunas won the championship for the first time in 2019, defeating Villa Clara 4 games to 1. Naranjas De Villa Clara
The Azucareros de Villa Clara (Villa Clara Sugarmakers) is a baseball club that plays in the Cuban National Series. Based in Santa Clara, the Naranjas have been one of the league's most successful Cuban squads over the last 30 years; winning championships in 1983, as well as three-year run from 1993 to 1995. They also lost the 1996, 2003, 2004 and 2010 finals to the Industriales. Orange, white and black are their colors; although they have three different colors, the orange is what represents them, even though teams like Sancti Spíritus Gallos also wore orange uniforms. Eight Villa Clara's players have been members of the Cuba national baseball team in the World Baseball Classic.
