2018–19 Albany Great Danes Men's Basketball Team
The 2018–19 Albany Great Danes men's basketball team represented University at Albany, SUNY in the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They played their home games at the SEFCU Arena in Albany, New York and were led by 18th-year head coach Will Brown. They were members of the America East Conference. They finished the season 12–20, 7–9 in America East play to finish in a tie for fifth place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the America East tournament to UMBC. Previous season The Great Danes finished the 2017–18 season 22–10, 10–6 in America East Conference play to finish in fourth place. In the America East tournament, they were defeated by Stony Brook in the quarterfinals. Despite finishing with 22 wins, they opted to not play in a postseason tournament. Will Brown (basketball)
William J. Brown (born October 8, 1971) is an American basketball coach. He is the former head men's basketball coach at the University at Albany, where he served from 2002 to 2021 and guided the Great Danes to five NCAA tournament appearances. Brown has also coached the Albany Patroons of The Basketball League and the women's basketball team at the College of Saint Rose. Playing career Born in Miller Place, New York, Brown played collegiate basketball at Dowling College, starting for three years. He finished his career as the school's all-time leader in assists, three-point field goals and free-throw percentage, and is the only player in Dowling history to score 1,000 points and tally 500 assists. Coaching career Brown began his coaching career at The College of Saint Rose, serving as an assistant coach for three seasons. DeMatha Catholic High School
DeMatha Catholic High School is a four-year Catholic high school for boys located in Hyattsville, Maryland, United States. Named after John of Matha, DeMatha is under the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington and is a member of the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference. Albany Academy is an independent college preparatory day school in Albany, New York. It enrolls students from Prekindergaten (age 4) to Grade 12. It was established in 1813 by a charter signed by Mayor Philip Schuyler Van Rensselaer and the city council of Albany. Culver Academies is a college preparatory boarding school in Culver, Indiana, which is composed of three entities: Culver Military Academy (CMA) for boys, Culver Girls Academy (CGA), and the Culver Summer Schools and Camps (CSSC). Montverde Academy is a private college preparatory school in Montverde, Florida, United States, located in the Greater Orlando area. The school is widely known for its athletic programs, particularly soccer and basketball. History The school was founded in 1912 as Montgomery Industrial School. The school president was Henry P. Carpenter. It underwent a major expansion in 1921, when two new buildings were built for a cost of almost $40,000, including a concrete block dormitory for 200 boys and a new dining hall.
