2018 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play
The 2018 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play was the 20th WGC Match Play, played March 21–25 at Austin Country Club in Austin, Texas. It was the second of four World Golf Championships in 2018. Field The field consisted of the top 64 players available from the Official World Golf Ranking on March 11. However, the seedings were based on the World Rankings on March 18. Justin Rose (ranked 5th on March 12, personal reasons), Rickie Fowler (7th, personal reasons), Brooks Koepka (8th, wrist injury), Henrik Stenson (15th, personal reasons), Adam Scott (56th, personal reasons), and Joost Luiten (67th, wrist injury) did not compete, allowing entry for Kevin Na (ranked 65th), Charles Howell III (66th), Keegan Bradley (68th), Luke List (69th), and Julian Suri (70th). Official World Golf Ranking
The Official World Golf Ranking is a system for rating the performance level of professional golfers. It was started in 1986. The rankings are based on a player's position in individual tournaments (i.e. not pairs or team events) over a "rolling" two-year period. New rankings are calculated each week. During 2018, nearly 400 tournaments on 20 tours were covered by the ranking system. All players competing in these tournaments are included in the rankings. In 2025, 24 tours factored into the world rankings. As well as being of general interest, the rankings have an additional importance, in that they are used as one of the qualifying criteria for entry into a number of leading tournaments. Match Play
Match play is a scoring system for golf in which a player, or team, earns a point for each hole in which they have bested their opponents; as opposed to stroke play, in which the total number of strokes is counted over one or more rounds of 18 holes. In match play the winner is the player, or team, with the most points at the end of play. Although most professional tournaments are played using the stroke play scoring system, there are, or have been, some exceptions, for example the WGC Match Play and the Volvo World Match Play Championship, and most team events, for example the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup, all of which are in match play format. 2014 WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship
The 2014 WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship was the 16th WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship, held February at The Golf Club at Dove Mountain in Marana, Arizona, northwest of Tucson. It was the first of four World Golf Championships in 2014. With a field of 64 competitors, the five-day six-round event began on Wednesday, with the semifinals and finals on Sunday. Jason Day won his first WGC title at the 23rd hole of the final match with Victor Dubuisson. This was the eighth and final edition of the championship contested in Marana, the host since 2007. The tournament moved back to California in 2015, held in early May at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, and went to Austin, Texas, in March 2016. Julian Suri
Julian Suri (born April 6, 1991) is an American professional golfer who currently plays on the European Tour. Amateur career Suri played college golf at Duke University where he won three events and was an All-American in 2012. Professional career Suri turned professional in 2013. In 2016 he played all three stages of the European Tour Qualifying School. He finished just one stroke away from qualifying for the European Tour, to earn a place on the Challenge Tour. Luke Ryan List (born January 14, 1985) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. Amateur career List was born in Seattle, Washington. He was the runner-up at the 2004 U.S. Amateur to Ryan Moore, finishing 2 down. Adam Scott (golfer)
Adam Derek Scott (born 16 July 1980) is an Australian professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. He is a former world number one in the Official World Golf Ranking. He has won one major championship, the 2013 Masters Tournament. Henrik Stenson
Henrik Olof Stenson (; born 5 April 1976) is a Swedish professional golfer. In the late 1990s, Stenson turned pro and had much success on the European Tour, winning a number of events in the 2000s. In 2009, Stenson won the PGA Tour's flagship event, The Players Championship, and has primarily focused on the United States since then.
