2018 Men's U23 Pan-American Volleyball Cup
The 2018 Men's U23 Pan-American Volleyball Cup was the fourth edition of the bi-annual men's volleyball tournament, played by five countries from 15 to 20 October at the Domo Polideportivo de la CDAG, Domo Polideportivo in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Competing nations Pool standing procedure Match won 3–0: 5 points for the winner, 0 point for the loser Match won 3–1: 4 points for the winner, 1 points for the loser Match won 3–2: 3 points for the winner, 2 points for the loser The first criterion is the number of matches won, second criterion is points gained by the team In case of tie, the teams were classified according to the following criteria: points ratio and sets ratio Competition format The competition format for the 2018 Men's U23 Pan-American Volleyball Cup consists of two phases, the first is a round robin round between all five competing nations. Men's Pan-American Volleyball Cup
The Men's Pan-American Volleyball Cup is a men's volleyball tournament organized by NORCECA. Initially, only NORCECA teams participated, but CSV teams have been invited since 2010. The event served as a qualifier for FIVB Volleyball World League, World League and the America Cup of Volleyball, America's Cup. Now, the event serves as an America qualifier for the Pan American Games classification. The women have their own equivalent of the tournament, the Women's Pan-American Volleyball Cup, Women's Pan-American Cup. Miguel Angel Castillo Flores (born 30 September 1983) is a Honduran football player, who currently plays for Victoria in the Honduran National League. Club career Castillo has played four years for Broncos UNAH, then moved to Motagua and Olimpia where he started his career. When at Motagua, he and his brother joined a training camp in Turkey to try to seal a contract with an overseas club. In summer 2012, new Olimpia coach Danilo Tosello deemed Castillo surplus to requirements and he subsequently joined Victoria. Miguel Ángel López Castro (born 25 March 1997) is a Cuban volleyball player. He captains the Cuban national team, a participant at the Olympic Games Rio 2016. At the professional club level, he plays for Osaka Bluteon. Early life Lopez Castro was born in Cienfuegos Province, Cuba, as the youngest of three children of Elcida Juana Castro and Miguel Angel Lopez Martinez. His interest in volleyball began at the age of seven, when he saw footage of former Cuban star Joel Despaigne and his jumping ability. Osniel Lazaro Melgarejo Hernández (born ) is a Cuban male volleyball player. He is part of the Cuba men's national volleyball team. On club level he plays for Allianz Milano. Career His career started in the provincial club of Sancti Spiritus in Cuba, participating in amateur tournaments. In 2015 he received his first call from the Cuban national team, winning the silver medal at the North American championship, while a year later he won the gold medal at the Pan-American Cup and the silver one on the same tournament with the U23 team.
