2017–18 PBA Season
The 2017–18 PBA season was the 43rd season of the Philippine Basketball Association. The league continued to use the three-conference format, starting with the Philippine Cup. The Commissioner's Cup and the Governors' Cup were the second and third conferences in the upcoming season. The first event of the season was the 2017 PBA draft, held on October 29. PBA On ESPN 5
The PBA on One Sports is the branding for presentation of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) games which started since the 2011–12 PBA season, 2011-12 season. Telecasts are produced by One Sports (formerly Sports5 and ESPN5), the sports division of TV5 Network, TV5 Network Inc., and aired through One Sports (TV channel), One Sports and PBA Rush, with simulcast and livestreaming on Cignal Play, Pilipinas Live and Smart LiveStream. Also, there is a separate coverage in English commentary on PBA Rush since July 15, 2016. TV5, formerly known as Associated Broadcasting Company (ABC), previously handled the coverage of the games from 2004 PBA Fiesta Conference, 2004 to 2007-08 PBA season, 2008. 2017 PBA Draft
The 2017 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) rookie draft was an event that allowed teams to draft players from the amateur ranks. It was held at the Midtown Atrium, Robinsons Place Manila on October 29, 2017. The league determined the drafting order based on the performance of the member teams from the 2016–17 season, with the worst team picking first. The San Miguel Beermen selected first overall after a trade with the Kia Picanto. Draft order The draft order is determined based from the overall performance of the teams from the previous season. The Philippine Cup final ranking comprises 40% of the points, while the rankings of the Commissioner's and Governors' Cups are 30% each. Bong Ramos
Geraldo "Bong" Ramos (born January 20, 1961) is a Filipino professional basketball coach. He had previously coached teams in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), ASEAN Basketball League (ABL), Indonesian Basketball League (IBL), Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games), Southeast Asia Basketball Association (SEABA), Metropolitan Basketball Association (MBA), and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The Blackwater Bossing is a professional basketball team owned by Ever Bilena, Inc. that is playing in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) beginning in the 2014–2015 season. The franchise started as one of the founding teams in the PBA Developmental League. It transferred to the PBA after being accepted as an expansion team. Sol Mercado
Solomon Jemuel Rayos Mercado (born May 6, 1984) is a Filipino-American former professional basketball player in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Known as the "Sol-Train", he had an impressive PBA rookie season and eventually became a reliable point guard for most of the teams he played for. Professional career Rain or Shine Elasto Painters Mercado was originally drafted by the Alaska Aces as the fifth pick in the 2008 PBA draft. Tim Cone
Earl Timothy Cone (born December 14, 1957) is an American professional basketball coach who leads Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) and the Philippine men's national team. He is the most accomplished coach in PBA history with 25 titles including two Grand Slams, five Coach of the Year awards, and the most coaching wins with over 1,000. Alexander M. Compton (born March 16, 1974) is a Filipino-born American retired basketball player and coach. He also served as the head coach of the Alaska Aces of the Philippine Basketball Association. Early life and college career Born in Makati in the Philippines, Compton and his family spent a year in northeastern Thailand when he was ten years old. Dickie Bachmann
Richard "Dickie" Bachmann (born January 11, 1968) is a Filipino sports executive and former basketball player who serves as the chairman of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC). Education Bachmann attended De La Salle University from 1986 to 1991 graduating with a degree in commerce.
