2017–18 Oklahoma State Cowboys Basketball Team
The 2017–18 Oklahoma State Cowboys basketball team represented Oklahoma State University in the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They were led by first-head coach Mike Boynton Jr. The Cowboys were members of the Big 12 Conference and played their home games at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater, Oklahoma. They finished the season 21–15, 8–10 in Big 12 play to finish in a four-way tie for sixth place. They defeated Oklahoma in the first round of the Big 12 tournament before losing in the quarterfinals to Kansas. They were invited to the National Invitation Tournament where they defeated Florida Gulf Coast and Stanford before losing in the quarterfinals to Western Kentucky. Mike Boynton
Michael Boynton Jr. (born January 17, 1982) is an American basketball coach, currently an assistant coach at the Michigan Wolverines basketball, University of Michigan. Previously he was the head coach at Oklahoma State University–Stillwater, Oklahoma State University from 2017 to 2024. Playing career A native of Brooklyn, Brooklyn, New York, Boynton led his high school basketball team at Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School to the city semifinals and earned first team All-New York City honors by averaging 15.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 11.0 assists per game. While a player for the University of South Carolina Gamecocks from 2000 to 2004, Boynton made 129 three-pointers in 125 career games, finishing in the top ten in three-pointers made and fourth in career games played with the Gamecocks. The 2016–17 Big 12 men's basketball season is the ongoing 21st season of basketball for the Big 12 Conference. Team practices began in October 2016, and were followed by the start of the regular season on November 11. Conference play began on December 30, 2016 and will conclude with the 2017 Big 12 men's basketball tournament, beginning March 8, 2017 at the Sprint Center in Kansas City. Flower Mound, Texas
Flower Mound is an incorporated town located in Denton and Tarrant counties in the U.S. state of Texas. Located northwest of Dallas and northeast of Fort Worth adjacent to Grapevine Lake, the town derives its name from a prominent mound located in the center of town. After settlers used the site for religious camps during the 1840s, the area around Flower Mound was first permanently inhabited in the 1850s; however, residents did not incorporate until 1961. Although an effort to create a planned community failed in the early 1970s, Flower Mound's population increased substantially when Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport opened to the south in 1974. Jawun B. Evans (born July 26, 1996) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Maine Celtics of the NBA G League. A point guard, he played college basketball for Oklahoma State, Evans was named an All-American in the 2016–17 season.
