Newcastle United Jets Football Club, commonly known as Newcastle Jets, is an Australian professional Association football, soccer club based in Newcastle, New South Wales. It competes in the country's premier competition, the A-League, under Professional sports league organization#Systems around the world, licence from the Australian Professional Leagues (APL) (formerly under licence from Football Australia). The club was formed in 2000 when it joined the National Soccer League (NSL) and was one of only three former NSL clubs to join in the formation of the A-League. Newcastle Jets have won one A-League championship, after defeating The F3 Derby, rivals Central Coast Mariners FC, Central Coast Mariners 1–0 in the 2008 A-League Grand Final. Nigel Boogaard
Nigel Boogaard ( ; born 14 August 1986) is a former Australian professional footballer who played as a central defender in the A-League. Boogaard currently plays for Charlestown Azzurri in the Northern NSW Football National Premier Leagues competition. Club career Central Coast Mariners Coming from the Weston Workers Bears, Boogaard has had a rollercoaster career. Kosta Petratos
Kosta Petratos (born 1 March 1998) is an Australian professional soccer player who plays as a forward for Sutherland Sharks in NPL NSW. Club career Petratos started his youth career at the Football New South Wales National Training Centre. In 2014 he joined the FFA Centre of Excellence talent identification and player development program in Canberra, coached by Tony Vidmar, before he was signed by Perth Glory for the 2016–17 A-League season. He made 9 senior cap appearances for the Glory. Petratos signed for the Newcastle Jets for the 2017–18 A-League season to gain more game time opportunities. John "Johnny" Koutroumbis (born 6 March 1998) is an Australian professional soccer player who plays as a right back for club Motherwell. Club career Newcastle Jets After initially signing with Newcastle Jets as an injury replacement for Daniel Alessi, on 2 February 2017, Newcastle Jets signed Koutroumbis on a two-year deal. Mario Shabow (born 5 May 1998) is a professional football player. He currently plays for Sydney United 58. Born in Iraq, he has represented Australia at youth level. Early life Shabow was born in Baghdad, Iraq. At the age of six, his family moved to Australia in 2004, due to the unsettled war-torn country.
