2017–18 National League 2 North
The 2017–18 National League 2 North is the ninth season (31st overall) of the National League 2 North, fourth tier (north) of the English domestic rugby union competitions since the professionalised format of the RFU Championship, second division was introduced. On 21 April 2018 Sheffield RUFC, Sheffield became the first side to be relegated after losing heavily to promotion chasing Sedgley Park R.U.F.C., Sedgley Park away from home. This meant that Sheffield would equal the unwanted record set by Morley R.F.C., Morley of being the most demoted side in tier 4 (north) history with what was their third relegation from this level since the leagues started in 1987. The championship took a little longer to decide when on 28 April 2018 Sale FC Rugby Club, Sale FC clinched the title by winning 37-5 away to Leicester Lions RFC, Leicester Lions, with a (rescheduled) game to spare. Sale FC Rugby Club
Sale FC is a semi-professional rugby union club based at Heywood Road in Sale, Greater Manchester, England. They play in National League 1 following promotion from National League 2 North at the end of the 2017–18 season. English Premiership (rugby union), Premiership club Sale Sharks is the professional offshoot of Sale FC. History Formed by a team of sportsmen drawn mainly from Sale Cricket Club, Sale Football Club was founded in 1861 and is the fifth oldest surviving rugby club. 2017–18 National League 2 South
The 2017–18 National League 2 South is the ninth season (31st overall) of the fourth tier (south) of the English domestic rugby union competitions since the professionalised format of the second division was introduced. On 7 April 2018 Broadstreet became the first club to be relegated, a 12–16 defeat away to fellow strugglers Barnstaple condemning them to the drop with three games to go. On 21 April Cinderford became champions with a game to go following a narrow 21–19 win away to Bury St Edmunds. Cinderford were easily the best team in the division, finishing 12 points clear of second place Chinnor, who on most other seasons would have been good enough to finish champions but instead had to settle for the promotion playoff game. Caldy Rugby Club is an England, English rugby union club which play in the RFU Championship, the English rugby union system, second tier of English rugby, following their promotion from National League 1 at the end of 2021–22. __NOTOC__ Tynedale was a local government district in Northumberland, England. The district had a resident population of 58,808 according to the 2001 census. The main towns were Hexham, Haltwhistle and Prudhoe. The district contained part of Hadrian's Wall and the southern part of Northumberland National Park. Otley is a market town and civil parish at a bridging point on the River Wharfe, in the City of Leeds metropolitan borough in West Yorkshire, England. Huddersfield is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees in West Yorkshire, England. It is the administrative centre and largest settlement in the Kirklees district. Chester Rugby Union Football Club (also known as Chester RUFC) is a rugby union club based in Chester, Cheshire. The club is governed by the Rugby Football Union and the 1st XV currently competes in the fourth tier of the English rugby union system, National League 2 North, following a level transfer from National League 2 West at the end of the 2023–24 season. Midlands Premier
Regional 1 Midlands (until 2021–22 known as Midlands Premier and up until 2016–17 known as National League 3 Midlands) is a level five semi-professional league in the English rugby union system. It is one of six leagues at this level. When this division began in 1987 it was known as Midlands Division 1. The format of the league was changed at the beginning of the 2009–10 season following a reorganisation by the Rugby Football Union (RFU), and the name change from National League 3 to Premier was introduced for the 2017–18 season by the RFU in order to lessen confusion for what is a series of regional leagues.
