2017–18 Manhattan Jaspers Basketball Team
The 2017–18 Manhattan Jaspers basketball team represented Manhattan College during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Jaspers, led by seventh-year head coach Steve Masiello, played their home games at Draddy Gymnasium in Riverdale, New York as members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). They finished the season 14–17, 9–9 in MAAC play, to finish in a tie for fifth place. As the No. 5 seed in the MAAC tournament, they lost in the quarterfinals to Iona. Previous season The Jaspers finished the 2016–17 season 10–22, 5–15 in MAAC play, to finish in a tie for tenth place. They lost in the first round of the MAAC tournament to Rider. Steve Masiello
Stephen John Masiello Jr. (born September 2, 1977) is an American college basketball coach and a former player. He is currently the associate head coach at St. John's. Masiello is a native of White Plains, New York. He graduated from Iona Grammar School in 1991 and attended Archbishop Stepinac High School for two years before transferring to the Harvey School in Katonah, New York. Masiello played collegiately as a walk-on at Kentucky for coaches Rick Pitino and Tubby Smith from 1996 to 2000. Though he rarely played, he was a member of two Final Four teams, including the 1997–98 Wildcats team that won the national championship. Masiello left Kentucky without completing his college degree in communications, despite information to the contrary on his Manhattan College and Louisville website bios. 2017–18 Sacred Heart Pioneers Men's Basketball Team
The 2017–18 Sacred Heart Pioneers men's basketball team represented Sacred Heart University during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. This was the Pioneers' 19th season of NCAA Division I basketball, all played in the Northeast Conference. The Pioneers were led by fifth-year head coach Anthony Latina and played their home games at the William H. Pitt Center in Fairfield, Connecticut. They finished the season 10–21, 5–13 in NEC play to finish in ninth place, failing to make the NEC tournament. Fairmont State University is a public university in Fairmont, West Virginia. History Fairmont State University’s roots reach back to the formation of public education in the state of West Virginia. The first private normal school in West Virginia was established to train teachers in Fairmont in 1865 by John N. Boyd, the school’s first principal. Elmont, NY
Elmont is an unincorporated hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) located in northwestern Hempstead in Nassau County, New York, United States, along its border with the borough of Queens in New York City. The population was 35,265 as of the 2020 census. The hamlet is famous for Belmont Park which hosts the Belmont Stakes, the third leg of the prestigious Triple Crown of thoroughbred racing.
