2017–18 ISU Grand Prix Of Figure Skating
The 2017–18 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating was a series of senior international competitions organized by the International Skating Union that were held from October through December 2017. Medals were awarded in men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance. Skaters earned points based on their placements at each event and the top six in each discipline qualified to compete at the Grand Prix Final in Nagoya, Japan. The corresponding series for junior-level skaters was the 2017–18 ISU Junior Grand Prix. Competitions The series included the following events. Requirements Skaters are eligible to compete on the senior Grand Prix circuit if they had reached the age of 15 before July 1, 2017. The ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating (known as ISU Champions Series from 1995 to 1997) is a series of senior international figure skating competitions organized by the International Skating Union. The invitational series was inaugurated in 1995, incorporating several previously existing events. Medals are awarded in single skating, men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance. The junior-level equivalent is the ISU Junior Grand Prix. Summary Competitions Currently, the sanctioned competitions for the Grand Prix are: * Skate America. Michal Březina
Michal Březina (; born 30 March 1990) is a retired Czech figure skater. He is the 2013 European bronze medalist, 2011 Skate America champion, 2009 World Junior silver medalist and four-time Czech national champion. He also won the 2014-15 ISU Challenger Series. Michal represented the Czech Republic at the 2010, 2014, 2018, and 2022 Winter Olympics. Personal life Michal Březina was born on 30 March 1990 in Brno. Yan Han (figure Skater)
Yan Han (; ; born March 6, 1996) is a former Chinese competitive figure skater. He is a three-time Four Continents bronze medalist (2013, 2015, 2016), the 2013 Cup of China champion and a four-time Chinese national champion (2010-2011, 2018, 2020). On the junior level, he is the 2012 Youth Olympic champion, the 2012 Junior World champion, the winner of four ISU Junior Grand Prix titles, and a two-time Junior Grand Prix Final silver medalist (2010, 2011). Kevin Reynolds (born July 23, 1990) is a retired Canadian figure skater. He is the 2013 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships, Four Continents champion, 2010 Four Continents bronze medallist, 2014 Figure skating at the Olympic Games, Winter Olympics team silver medallist and a six-time Canadian Figure Skating Championships, Canadian national medallist (2012–14, 2017 silver; 2010, 2016 bronze). Nam Nguyen
Nam Nguyen (born May 20, 1998) is a Canadian retired competitive figure skater. He is the 2014 World Junior champion, 2019 Skate Canada silver medallist, and two-time Canadian national champion (2015, 2019). He has placed as high as fifth at the World Championships, in 2015. Personal life Nam Nguyen was born May 20, 1998, in Ottawa. Both of his parents are from Vietnam — his father, Sony, moved to Canada in 1988 and sponsored his wife, Thu, in 1994. Keegan Messing (born January 23, 1992) is a Canadian-American retired figure skater. Representing Canada, he has competed at two Winter Olympic Games in 2018 and 2022. He has also appeared at three World Championships, placing as high as sixth. The 2017 Skate America was the sixth event of six in the 2017–18 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, a senior-level international invitational competition series. It was held in Lake Placid, New York, on November 24–26. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dance.
