The 2017–18 Hannover 96 season was the 122nd season in the football club's history and 29th overall season in the top flight of German football, the Bundesliga, having been promoted from the 2. Bundesliga in 2017. Hannover 96 also participated in this season's edition of the domestic cup, the DFB-Pokal. This was the 59th season for Hannover in the HDI-Arena, located in Hanover, Lower Saxony, Germany. The season covered a period from 1 July 2017 to 30 June 2018. Hannoverscher Sportverein von 1896, commonly referred to as Hannover 96 (), is a German professional association football, football club based in the city of Hanover, Lower Saxony. They played in the Bundesliga for a total of 30 years between 1964 and 2019 and currently play in the 2. Bundesliga, the second tier in the German football league system, having been relegated from the Bundesliga, Germany's first tier, after finishing 17th in the 2018–19 Bundesliga, 2018–19 season. The DFB-Pokal (), also known as the German Cup in English language, English, is a German knockout Association football, football cup competition held annually by the German Football Association (DFB). Sixty-four teams participate in the competition, including all clubs from the Bundesliga and the 2. Bundesliga along with the four best teams from the 3. Liga. It is considered the second-most important club title in German football after the Bundesliga championship. Jonathas Cristian de Jesus (born 6 March 1989), sometimes known as just Jonathas, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Athletic. In his career, he played top-flight football in his own country, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Russia, Germany and India. Manuel Schmiedebach
Manuel Schmiedebach (born 5 December 1988) is a German professional Association football, footballer who plays for German side Grün-Weiß Ahrensfelde. Career Born in West Berlin, Schmiedebach was first a product of hometown club Hertha BSC's youth teams. In 2008 he joined the amateur team of Hannover 96, Hannover 96 II in the Regionalliga Nord on a free transfer. Julian Korb (born 21 March 1992) is a German professional footballer who plays as a right back for Borussia Mönchengladbach II.
