2017–18 Central Arkansas Sugar Bears Basketball Team
The 2017–18 Central Arkansas Sugar Bears basketball team represented the University of Central Arkansas during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Sugar Bears were led by sixth-year head coach Sandra Rushing and played their home games at the Farris Center in Conway, Arkansas. They were members of the Southland Conference. They finished the season 25–10, 14–4 in Southland play, to finish in third place. They advanced to the semifinals of the Southland women's tournament where they lost to Stephen F. Austin. They received an invite to the WBI where they defeated SIU Edwardsville, Weber State and Nevada in the first round, quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively, to advanced to the championship game where they lost to Yale in the championship game. Sandra Rushing
Sandra Rushing is an American women's college basketball coach. She has served as head coach at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), Delta State University, and the University of Central Arkansas (UCA). When she left UTEP, she had the best record for women's basketball in the school's history. Rushing was inducted into the El Paso Women's Hall of Fame in 1999. Biography Rushing grew up on a farm in Wool Market, Mississippi. She graduated from the University of Alabama in 1986 with a bachelor's degree in physical education. She played basketball at Alabama and was named a defensive MVP. and She earned her master's degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from Delta State University in 1989. Jacksonville College is a private Christian junior college in Jacksonville, Texas. It is the only accredited junior college in Texas that is privately owned and operated, owned by the Baptist Missionary Association of America. Greenwood is a city in and one of the two county seats of Sebastian County, Arkansas, United States. It is the fifth largest municipality in the Fort Smith metropolitan area with a population of 8,952 according to the 2010 US Census.
