2017–18 Azerbaijan First Division
The 2017–18 Azerbaijan First Division is the second-level of football in Azerbaijan. Turan Tovuz were the defending champions. Teams Sabail was promoted from the 2016–17 season to Azerbaijan Premier League, while Shuvalan relegated to the First Division. On 25 September 2017, it was announced that Bine, Khazar Baku, and Sabah will participate in the First Division. Shamkir, Shahdag, Sharurspor, Energetik, Bakılı, Ravan Baku and Göyazan didn't participate in this season. Azerbaijan First Division
The Azerbaijan First League () is the second highest professional division in Azerbaijani professional football. The league is run by AFFA. The winner promotes to Premier Division. History Due to the dissolution of the Soviet Union, all Azerbaijan clubs of the former Soviet Premier Division and Soviet First Division conformed a single Azerbaijan Premier League, which meant that the new second tier of Azerbaijan football would remain regionalized. For the first two seasons three regional groups conformed the second tier, until in 1994 the single table in use today began to be used. Energetik FK
Mingəçevir FK is an Azerbaijani football club based in Mingachevir. One of the oldest and most popular clubs in Azerbaijan, it currently plays in the Azerbaijan First Division. History The club was established in 1966 and took part in Soviet Second League and Azerbaijan Premier League under the next names like ''Textilshchik'' (1966–70), ''Avtomobilist'' (1980–87), ''Kur'' (1990–93), ''Kur-Nur'' (1993–98). MOIK Baku
MOIK Baku is an Azerbaijani football club, based in Baku. MOIK was originally built around the concept of military sports club such as CSKA Moscow, CSKA Sofia. History The club was established under the name OIK (; ) in 1961 as sport society of Azerbaijani Armed Forces and was funded by USSR Ministry of Defense until 1990 and Azerbaijan Ministry of Defense since 1993. Imishli (city)
Imishli () is a city and the capital of the Imishli District of Azerbaijan. History During the Tsardom of Russia, Qaradonlu belonged to the Javad Khan administration. In 1906, the first School of Qaradonlu region was established, with many living-buildings, caravanserais, mills and shops in the area. In August 1930, Qaradonlu was organized in Mil-Mugan as a region. As early as the October Revolution, land-reclamation and irrigation work were made based on the intense irrigated plant-growing. In 1933, Qaradonlu Machine-Tractor Plant was built in the Qaradonlu historical region. Inter Arena
ASK Arena (), formerly Inter Arena and Shafa Stadium is an all-seater football stadium located in Baku . The stadium was built on the site of Termist stadium in 2001 and has a capacity of 8,125 spectators. The stadium surrounded by practice fields, administration buildings and four-star hotel. Background ASK Arena was built by AFFA in 2001. The first match played was a 2001–02 UEFA Cup first qualifying round between Shafa Baku and Olimija Ljubljana where the match ended 0–4. The Khazar raion or Khazar rayon () is one of the 12 rayonlar in Baku, Azerbaijan. It has a population of 204,736. Agsu () is a city in and capital of the Agsu District of Azerbaijan. History Abbasgulu Bakikhanov noted that Nadir Shah issued an order for resettlement of the inhabitants of Shamakhi to the newly laid down city on the bank of Agsu river, in 1735.
