2017–18 Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2017–18 Atlantic Coast Conference men's basketball season began with practices in October 2017, followed by the start of the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in November. Conference play started in late December 2017 and concluded in March with the 2018 ACC men's basketball tournament at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Brooklyn, New York. The Virginia Cavaliers won an outright regular season championship, their third in five years under the guidance of Tony Bennett (basketball, born 1969), Tony Bennett, who also received his third ACC Coach of the Year Award. He also became the only living three-time winner of the Henry Iba Award for national coach of the year. The Cavaliers finished 17–1 in the conference, finishing four games above second-place Duke. The UNC Wilmington Seahawks men's basketball team represents the University of North Carolina Wilmington. The team plays in the Coastal Athletic Association. Bradley Robert Brownell (born November 15, 1968) is an American college basketball coach at Clemson University. Prior to coming to Clemson, he held the same position at Wright State and UNC Wilmington. Early life Born in Evansville, Indiana, Brownell played high school basketball at William Henry Harrison High School with former Indiana University player and current Director of Player Development Calbert Cheaney. James Patrick Christian (born February 6, 1965) is an American college basketball coach who is the head coach of the Canisius Golden Griffins. He previously served as the head coach at Boston College, Kent State, TCU and Ohio. Playing career Christian was born in Bethpage, New York. He previously served as the vice president and director of athletics at the University of Louisville.
