The 2017–18 season was Al Ain FC, Al Ain Football Club's 50th in existence and the club's 43rd consecutive season in the UAE Arabian Gulf League, top-level football league in the UAE. Al Ain Football Club (; Arabic transliteration, transliterated: Nady al-'Ayn) is a professional Football team, football club based in the city of Al Ain, Abu Dhabi (emirate), Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. It is one of many sport sections of the multi-sports club Al Ain Sports and Cultural Club (). The club was founded in 1968 by players from Al Ain, members of a Bahraini group of exchange students and the Sudanese community working in the United Arab Emirates. The team quickly gained popularity and recognition throughout the country, being the team with the most trophies (38 in total). Al Ain is by far the United Arab Emirates football records, most successful club in the UAE. Dean Klafurić
Dean Klafurić (born 26 July 1972) is a Croatian professional football manager who is the manager of Bosnian Premier League club Široki Brijeg. Managerial career Early career Klafurić started working as a football manager in Udarnik in 2005. He accepted the place of manager of the Croatia women's national team in 2009. In 2012, Klafurić was sacked as manager. He then started working in the Dinamo Zagreb Academy. On 16 April 2018, Klafurić took over the caretaker manager role at Polish club Legia Warsaw after compatriot Romeo Jozak got fired. Klafurić would go on to win the domestic cup and a domestic league title double. On 4 June 2018, he was appointed as the manager of Legia Warsaw, before getting sacked on 1 August 2018. Klafurić later worked as manager of Hrvatski Dragovoljac, Cypriot side Ethnikos Achna and Slaven Belupo. Ismail Ahmed (footballer, Born 1983)
Ismail Ahmed Ismail Mohammed (; born 7 July 1983), known by his patronymic Ismail Ahmed, is a former footballer who played as a centre-back. Born in Morocco, he represented the United Arab Emirates at international level. Personal life Ismail Ahmed was born in Temara, Morocco, but moved to Yemen and Bahrain as a teenager to venture for his football passion. He was persuaded to play for the Bahraini national team, but rejected the offer to return to Morocco in order to play for his country's national side and league giants Raja Casablanca so he could head to Europe, but an injury ruined his career while the likes of Nordin Amrabat, Ayoub El Kaabi and Achraf Bencharki flourished. He soon accepted the offer to join Al Ain from his former club, FUS de Rabat, where he was granted Emirati citizenship. He retired in 2021. Joško Španjić
Josip "Joško" Španjić'(born 2 March 1966) is a Croatian Association football, football manager and former player. Playing career Španjić made his debut for Hajduk Split in 1984 and was a regular player under coach Stanko Poklepović. He gained fame at the time after his goal against Red Star Belgrade in 1985. In 1986, he joined the military and when he returned to Hajduk in 1987, he was dropped from the squad by the new coach from Bulgaria, Ivan Vutsov.
