2017 British Athletics Championships
The 2017 British Athletics Championships was the national championship in outdoor track and field for athletes in the United Kingdom, held from 1–2 July 2017 at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham. It was organised by UK Athletics. A full range of outdoor events were held up to 5000 metres. The competition served as the main selection event for the 2017 World Championships in Athletics. The British 400 metres athletics champions covers four competitions; the current British Athletics Championships which was founded in 2007, the preceding AAA Championships (1880-2006), the Amateur Athletic Club Championships (1866-1879) and finally the UK Athletics Championships which existed from 1977 until 1997 and ran concurrently with the AAA Championships. Andrew Butchart
Andrew Butchart (born 14 October 1991) is a British runner who competed in the 5000 metres event at the 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics. He is the current Scottish record holder in the 3000, 5000 and 10,000 metre events. In June 2023, he broke the parkrun world record. Career Butchart has trained at the Central Athletic Club in Stirling. At the age of 16, Butchart came third in the Scottish schools cross-country championships. He won the 2014 Age UK Leeds Abbey Dash. Butchart won his first professional race in the 5000 metres event at the 2015 Scottish Seniors Championships; he also finished second in the 1,500 metres race. Josh Kerr (born 8 October 1997) is a British Middle-distance running, middle-distance runner who competes primarily in the 1500 metres. Chris O'Hare
Chris O'Hare (born 23 November 1990) is a Scottish middle-distance runner who competes in the 1500 metres. He has represented Scotland at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and Great Britain at the 2016 Olympic Games. Personal life O'Hare was born and brought up in West Linton and attended Peebles High School. He subsequently completed a degree in sports science at the University of Tulsa in the United States, together with his sister Olivia. His younger brother Dominic competed in middle-distance running in Scotland. O'Hare is married and is a fan of Celtic FC. Guy Learmonth
Guy Learmonth (born 20 April 1992 in Berwick-upon-Tweed) is a Scottish and Great British athlete specialising in the 800 metres. His PB currently stands as 1:44.73 and he is the 3rd fastest Scottish 800m athlete of all time. Learmonth reached the final at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the 2015 European Indoor Championships, finishing 6th in both. He was named the GB&NI captain for the European Indoor Championships in 2019. Guy has broken the Scottish 800m Junior Record 9 times and holds the English AAA U20 Indoor & BUCS Championship records. Elliot Levi Giles (born 26 May 1994) is an English middle-distance runner from Birmingham, specialising in the 800 metres. He won a bronze medal at the 2016 European Championships and holds the current road mile world record at 3:51.3. Career In August 2014, he had a serious motorcycle accident which prevented him from competing for two years. His breakthrough year was 2016 when he became British champion over the distance, and was selected for the senior GB team for the first time at the European Athletics Championships where he won a surprise bronze medal. His new personal best of 1:45.54, set in the final, qualified him for the 2016 Summer Olympics.
