2016–17 VfB Stuttgart Season
The 2016–17 VfB Stuttgart season is the 124th season and the first season since being Promotion and relegation, relegated from the Bundesliga during the 2015–16 Bundesliga, 2015–16 season. This is the first time in 41 years that Stuttgart were relegated. Background Stuttgart were relegated after finishing in 17th place in the Bundesliga. They were sent down after a 3–1 loss to VfL Wolfsburg. This is their first relegation since 1975. Jürgen Kramny was demoted to head coach of the VfB Stuttgart II, reserve team. He was replaced by Jos Luhukay. They also sacked Robin Dutt, who had been the sporting director. 2. Bundesliga Review Stuttgart began the 2016–17 2. Bundesliga, 2016–17 league season with a 2–1 win against FC St. Pauli. Alexandru Maxim and Christian Gentner scored for Stuttgart and Aziz Bouhaddouz scored for St. Pauli. Jos Luhukay
Jos Luhukay (born 13 June 1963) is a Dutch football manager and former player, who was most recently head coach of VVV-Venlo. Playing career He began his career at the age of 15 at his hometown club FC VVV and he made his league debut in January 1981 against FC Den Bosch. In 1989, he went to play at SVV Schiedam, where he stayed until 1991. After playing for RKC Waalwijk from 1991 until 1993, he left his homeland for Germany, where he had two stints at SV Straelen (1993 to 1995 and 1996 to 1998), in-between playing for KFC Uerdingen from 1995 to 1996. Benjamin Brand (born 10 July 1989) is a German football referee who is based in Bamberg. He referees for FC Schallfeld 1946 of the Bavarian Football Association. Florian Klein (born 17 November 1986) is an Austrian former professional Association football, footballer who played as a Defender (association football), defender. Hajime Hosogai
is a Japanese professional footballer who plays for Thespa Gunma. He is a flexible player, able to play as a full-back or defensive midfielder. He made 30 appearances for the Japan national team scoring once. Club career Hosogai was amongst the most promising players of Urawa Red Diamonds. Aziz Bouhaddouz (; born 30 March 1987) is a Moroccan former professional footballer who played as a forward. Early life Bouhaddouz was born in Berkane, Morocco.
