The 2016–17 Utah State Aggies men's basketball team represented Utah State University in the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. This was head coach Tim Duryea's second season at Utah State. The Aggies played their home games at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum in Logan, Utah as members of the Mountain West Conference. They finished the season 14–17, 7–11 in Mountain West play to finish in tie for eighth place. They defeated 2016–17 San Jose State Spartans men's basketball team, San Jose State in the first round of the 2017 Mountain West Conference men's basketball tournament, Mountain West tournament to advance to the quarterfinals where they lost to 2016–17 Nevada Wolf Pack men's basketball team, Nevada. Tim Duryea
Timothy Lee Duryea (born November 16, 1964) is an American college basketball coach who was men's basketball head coach at Utah State Aggies men's basketball, Utah State, and is currently an assistant coach at Boise State Broncos men's basketball, Boise State. Early life and education Born in Medicine Lodge, Kansas, Duryea grew up in Denton, Texas and graduated from Denton High School. Duryea played college basketball first at University of Texas–Pan American, Pan American University (now the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley) with the UTRGV Vaqueros men's basketball, Broncs in the 1984–85 season, then transferred to North Texas State University (now the University of North Texas) and played for the North Texas Mean Green men's basketball, Mean Green from 1986 to 1988.
