2016–17 SK Rapid Wien Season
The 2016–17 SK Rapid Wien season was the 119th season in club history. Background Background information Rapid Wien finished the 2015–16 season in second place. Therefore, Rapid Wien started in the 3rd qualifying round of the 2016/17 Europa League competition. This was the first season Rapid played in the Allianz Stadion. On 7 November 2016, after a 0–1 defeat at home against Wolfsberger AC both manager Mike Büskens and Director of Football Andreas Müller were sacked. Four days later Damir Canadi was presented as the new manager, joining Rapid from league rival SCR Altach. On 11 December, Fredy Bickel was presented as the new Director of Football. On 9 April 2017, after a 0–3 defeat in Ried manager Damir Canadi was sacked and replaced by his former assistant coaches Goran Djuricin and Martin Bernhard until end of season. Sportklub Rapid (), commonly known as Rapid Wien or Rapid Vienna in English language, English, is an Football in Austria, Austrian professional football club playing in the country's capital city of Vienna. Andreas Müller (footballer, Born 1962)
Andreas Müller (born 13 December 1962 in Stuttgart) is a German former footballer who played mainly as a defensive midfielder. Football career Müller started his professional career at hometown's VfB Stuttgart, where he remained four seasons; in his first season, he netted five times in 20 league matches, helping the club clinch the title (with the title decided on goal difference, he found the net in consecutive 6–0 routings, against Fortuna Düsseldorf and at 1. FC Nürnberg, in April 1984). After a sole year at Hannover 96, he transferred to FC Schalke 04, then in the second division. During the following 12 years (11 of those as a regular first-team member), Müller helped the side win the 1996–97 UEFA Cup (appearing in 11 matches during the victorious campaign).
